Ugh, Hartford Union Station announcements, stop saying "Track 1." There's only one track. You sound pitiful, like an airport with one flight to Canada that leans into the "international" in its name.

Bitterly cold and rainy World Day of Remembrance in New Britain. Heartbreaking stories from families who our transportation system has failed, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

We don’t have to continue accept traffic deaths as a normal part of American life.

Incredible how every NIMBY in Connecticut is also an expert in wetlands!

Also incredible how it works. Their homes with steams in the backyard? They’re stewards of the wetlands. Apartments? No matter where, they’ll destroy it.

Have you ever used the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill or Wethersfield???

Do you think it sucks and could be a much better, safer road with a dynamic walkable community along it?

Elevators are important for urban logistics, since cities don’t have big single-story spaces. Here are two freight elevators in the Astor Pl. Wegman’s (built by Wanamaker’s?). Common in European/Asian warehouses, rarer in the U.S. due to our extreme costs. admin.centerforbuilding.org/wp-content/u...

took a lot of essential services to the suburbs. Try finding a pediatrician within city limits, or buying clothes and shoes and school supplies for a child anywhere except the one Wal Mart on the south side of town (unless you rely on the limited selection of a handful of dollar stores).

It's tiring to see New York so often held up as a model of urban planning that can be meaningful for most American cities, or whose problems are harbingers of what's to come for other cities. New York is extremely unusual among American cities! Talk to me about Rochester and El Paso and Pontiac.

This is so real. I handle cases in Hartford, where I live and where my office is, and in Bridgeport, 60 miles away, mostly without a car, because I can get from home to the train station in ten minutes and get to clients' houses all over both cities on my folding bike.
i recently got a great deal on a barely used folding ebike and i have to say it has revolutionized my train travel. i can get from my front door to the amtrak station in a little less than 5 minutes!!!

I've been on two calls today with fire safety professionals where the topic was the safety of single-stair buildings. On both calls, somebody was driving while on the call – one a firefighter, the other a fire protection engineer.
