I loved The Lion King since I was a kid and I have a soft spot for Open Season, so I’m sad to see that Roger Allers has passed away. RIP, legend.
Roger Allers, the co-director of ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Open Season’, has sadly passed away at the age of 76.

He also directed The Prophet, the Oscar-nominated The Little Matchgirl, was a storyboard artist on The Little Mermaid, Head of Story on Beauty and the Beast and more.

Lion King is my favorite movie from the beloved Disney Renaissance. The loss of one of that masterpiece's directors hurts greatly. Rest well, legend.

A little reminder for tomorrow. Also, if you throw allegations towards Genndy just for making a harhar dirty adult comedy with dogs, I will send you to the Shadow Realm.
If there’s anything some of the reactions to the Fixed trailer have showcased, it’s that you should never put an animation studio on such a high pedestal even if they’re currently at the top of their game as not all their films are gonna be surefire hits (cough cough some people with DreamWorks)

I’ve seen too many idiots say “they’re doing a Sonic and fixing the designs!” Uh...no. The internet has no idea how the industry works. Sonic made them too comfortable thinking harassment works.
Besides, have you seen what’s coming out in Dec 2026? Y’know, films like DUNE 3 and AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY?!
'Shrek 5' has been delayed to June 30, 2027 🟢

Starring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz

Real talk; knowing what Elio went through, all these "the CHAD sony versus the VIRGIN pixar" crap that's been pushed feels like punching down on the team that film had that were trying the best with the situation.

Also, this is only going to make people want to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters *less*.
I thought we agree to not do this again! Also fuck you for using Zoey in the thumbnail.

Saw Elio a second time before it left theaters. I still love this movie, warts and all. It deserved so much better.

I’m really debating how much more of this I can take. The doomerism of what’s happening in the world and declaring that ‘it’s over’ and ‘we’re cooked’ is bad enough. But I can’t even talk about my passions like animation because the community is more obsessed with drama than anything.

For those unaware, "bean mouths" are a term linked to a term called "CalArts style," which has actually NO connection to CalArts graduates and was coined by former animator and rapist John K. to criticize artists who opted to Disney's style. And NOBODY really knows how they got connected.
Nope! Not watching this one. Cause I know what it's all about.

I really hope this can pull through and become a sleeper hit like Elemental, cuz I am not in the mood to see people bitch and fear-monger about Pixar possibly putting out more sequels even tho they’ve put out more original films this decade than in the 2010s.
‘ELIO’ had the worst box office opening for a Pixar film ever with $21M domestically.

I gotta give it to him. He explained the toxicity that's currently in the discourse of live-action remakes better than I could! This is what I mean when there needs to be a line that you have to stop yourself so you could say "It's just a movie. It's not worth getting THIS upset over".
Also a little take about well, every live action remake that has been based off an animated film. I get why many people dislike them, and many have VERY justifiable and valid reasons for doing so. But I do think the hate they have gotten has gotten a little toxic.

They are not taking anything...

I’ll be taking a little break from here later this week, all because of a certain movie that’s coming. Seeing how ballistic the internet went over the last live action remake, if that’s how y’all are going to behave with these movies (they’re just movies!), I don’t want any part of it.

All of the quotes are coping with the “WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT HATE WATCHING?!” excuse, as expected.
I'm sorry, but social media is not real life. You guys are a small percentage. Your “crusades” have no impact on the offline general public. When are you guys going to come to terms with that?
The live-action ‘LILO & STITCH’ remake has already earned more than the animated movie.

The film opened to $341.7M globally.
