People should not act surprised, especially the right wing and anyone who voted for Trump.

We warned them. They did not listen. And now they choose to forget.

Don't let them.

So, the news says Nevada National Guard is preparing to assist ICE.

Called the governor’s office, where the person answering the phone denied it and said they’re just going to be helping with administration and paperwork.

I said that is indeed working with ICE and don’t you dare BS us.

Some art becomes so free-style that it departs from any recognised form. It then has no connection to any conventions or rules.

That is what is happening to law and policy in the United States at the moment. It no longer has any link to any constitutional tradition: it is now doing its own thing.

Unfortunately for Americans who want to not experience things like "bubonic plague," we also can't write NIH or NSF grants about this kind of thing anymore. I dunno, seems important
Now is the time that I remind you that, while plague has been endemic in the western United States for 70+ years and this is a normal occurrence, our work does seem to strongly suggest climate change is increasing spillover risk onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Hi friends! I know there’s a lot going on right now, most of it bad, but a small good thing—forgive the immodesty—is that today is the publication day of my debut novel, THE NIMBUS! It’s available as a hardcover, ebook, and audiobook from a bookstore near you. Also here: bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

The Republican budget bill gives a $1.1 trillion tax cut to people who earn >$500,000. And reduces Medicaid and Food Stamp benefits for the poor—overwhelmingly the working poor—by $1.1 trillion. Perfect greedy cruel Evil Geniuses symmetry. In all the richest 20% get 75% of tax cuts.

Disgusting.
