Let’s not give up on protecting the Canadian environment during the chaos of Trump’s presidency. My opinion piece for @theglobeandmail.com #cdnpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/arti...
Opinion: Without Canada, there is no Canadian environment to protect
But this doesn’t mean we should give up on sustainability in a panicked response to Donald Trump

Today, OCUFA is meeting with Ontario MPPs to discuss the serious threats facing our education sector. Ontario provides its universities with the lowest amount of total provincial funding per-domestic full-time equivalent (FTE) student in Canada, and it’s not close.

Really appreciated MPP Rob Cerjanec meeting with Queen’s University professors today to discuss how correcting the underfunding of #Ontario universities is critical for boosting the province’s economy. @OCUFA #OntarioPSE

(1/2) OCUFA’s annual Advocacy Day is fast approaching. This Wednesday, November 5, 2025, faculty and academic librarians will connect directly with Ontario MPPs to discuss the importance and value of Ontario’s world-class public universities.

Huge shout out to MPP @tedhsu for advocating for Ontario's universities at Queen's Park! Thank you for presenting the petitions from Queen's university faculty and students. #onpoli
Colleges and universities across Ontario are facing cuts. Today, I met with Queen's students & heard about how funding cuts affect their critical research. Last week, I presented a petition urging the province to increase post-secondary funding in line with their own blue-ribbon panel.

Opinion: Canada’s new pipeline push will turn out to be a costly blunder
One of the proposed solutions to the trade war is to streamline the review process and build more pipelines to diversify our energy exports

The downfall of #Chemosphere - journal removed from Clarivate’s Web of Science for “failing to meet editorial quality criteria”. #ecotox
Farewell, Chemosphere! Honestly, between this and Science of the Total Environment (and some increasing concerns about Marine Pollution Bulletin & Environmental Pollution) there's a real market for a society-driven not-for-profit published pollution journal retractionwatch.com/2024/12/18/j...

Wow! So much to dig into here for #ecotox scientists concerned about proposed releases of industrial wastewaters from the Canadian #oilsands. Thanks for sharing @vandermeuleni.bsky.social
Hot off the presses, ~3400 pages on modelled oil sands tailings release scenarios from Alberta Environment & Parks 🤯. This is going to take a hot minute to digest and understand.

With this much time and effort put towards it, releases must be in the near future
