She was integral to ‘Schitts Creek’ but Catherine O’Hara was a part of the improv troupe movies of Christopher Guest including ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Waiting for Guffman’. Her acceptance speech with the Austin 🎞️ Society for that shows her humour, warmth, and graciousness. m.youtube.com/watch?v=9rA7...

Count us in.
Later on, I'll need a deep cry about something that has nothing to do with the news. And I think it'll be rewatching Catherine O'Hara and the rest of the Schitt's Creek cast in David and Patrick's wedding.

The woman killed by ICE today was a poet. She won the 2020 Academy of American Poets, University & College Poetry Prize at Old Dominion University.

(And this is Renee from confirmed socials- a photo of a different woman with red lipstick is going around, but that was a classmate.)

What a list! Our eye is immediately drawn to "the first collection of Swahili Afro-Speculative fiction in English, The Witness of Nina Mvungi and Other Stories by Esther Karin Mngodo", but this collection of reccos could keep us going for all 2026, pretty sure

Recently had to run through Istanbul Airport and it was humiliating :( Will never run again, tbh
Airports often remind me that a lot of people just don’t know how to run.

ARB puts up a call for reviews every month, but: at the end of each year, we find ourselves looking at a *long* list of speculative fiction & related non-fiction that we'd love to cover! Do your part to fight recency bias, and claim one of these!
2025 Reviews: Last Call
The Ancillary Review of Books does focus on newly-released works as they are published. However, we very much want to fight recency bias in book coverage, and the idea that books just vanish if the…

We didn’t forget. Support local bookstores during Small Business Saturday and beyond.

worst forest/trees problem in generations is that a canto is A SECTION OF A LONG POEM. THAT'S IT. YOU DIDN'T WRITE A CANTO BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT THE WORD LOOKED COOL ON YOUR MEMOIR. CANTOS ARE POEMS. THAT LANGUAGE IS DYNAMIC DOES NOT MAKE YOUR SLAMBOOK A CANTO AMERICAN OR OTHERWISE

I was paid in honey mead and erotica coffee table books by a Czech publisher in the early 90s. I was given the choice of those two or "stationery".
I already shared that but people like this!

When Pepsi signed a distribution deal with USSR, trade embargo was in place so monetary transfers were not feasible. Pepsi was paid in decommissioned military equipment and for a short glorious while Pepsi was the 6th largest military power in the world
