Our paper on the influence of cultural context on neural (EEG) and self-reported measures of affective touch is finally out!
We report differences in how touch is evaluated across cultural contexts, and in cortical activation during touch processing 🧠👋

Is cultural context the crucial touch? Neurophysiological and self-reported responses to affective touch in women in South Africa and the United Kingdom
Abstract. Affective touch, involving touch-sensitive C-tactile (CT) afferent nerve fibres, is integral to human development and well-being. Despite presume

Ever thought about how to make your research more inclusive? 🧠✨

We worked with members of the public and patient contributors to understand what makes it harder for people to take part in research — from accessibility and scheduling to lab environments and communication. (🧵 1/3)

Looking back on a great time in Lyon last week for #EFIC2025 - lots of interesting talks, and more cheese and bread than you'd think was possible for a 5 day trip (France 1, vegetarians 0). Looking forward to the next one!

Proud to be one of many who contributed to this important article.

With typical postdocs joining labs in their 30s & staying 6 yrs, combined with low pay, the impact on women wanting to start a family is real. No wonder I waited to have my first child as a new PI. #Postdocs #WomenInScience
Static pay, shrinking prospects fuel neuroscience postdoc decline
Postdoctoral researchers sponsored by the National Institutes of Health now toil longer than ever before, for less money. They are responding accordingly.
