Really a shame that they don't seem to have any Software Engineers! I feel my noble profession is being ignored.

Faculty IMO are caught between two poles: institutional hyper vigilance and Social Media. Both poles amplify right- and left-wing trolls, which, effectively, inhibits careful, in depth analysis of the most important and difficult topics of the era.

College faculty are under pressure to say and do the right thing – the stress also trickles down to students
Faculty members say they are worried about job security but also whether they should be introducing certain topics, like gender, in their class or with colleagues.

BREAKING: Look at this.
A new crypto account was opened yesterday morning.
30 minutes BEFORE Trump's announcement of 100% tariffs on China, it added a huge multi-million dollar levered Bitcoin short position, per YF.
The market dumped.
The trader made +$192 million in two hours.
Unusual.

Who in the administration knew about Trump's latest tariff flip flop ahead of time? Did anyone buy or sell stocks, and profit at the public’s expense?

Alright, I think people knew of the tariff pause and traded it beforehand.
You can see before Trump posted "buy" on Truth Social, traders opened $QQQ $TQQQ and $SPY calls
RIGHT BEFORE THE NEWS, someone opened $SPY 509 calls, expiring TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those calls are up 2100% in one hour.

To all those who made Billions on Derivatives trading, ahead of all the recent Tariff-driven Market Craziness....I'm sure you're out there. Well done!

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.
No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Finally, the middle class can pay more of their income (as Tariffs) to fund the Federal Government, so the Billionaires can get a break.

Tariffs, shmariffs..they'll come and they'll go..what matters is the $$$ Trillions in Market Value shifts, and just who is making money in well-timed Derivatives trades?
..but we'll never know, and they'll keep what billions they make.

Surprising polling by @today.yougov.com that over a third of Republicans think that the US in a constitutional crisis. One-in-ten of them think the US is a dictatorship (thought it's not clear whether they think that's a good thing or not!).

Dear @teamsters.bsky.social you could have endorsed a candidate
who was labor-friendly, and you chose not to. Your actions had electoral consequences. Sorry: although I appreciate Unions, I won't be respecting your picket lines at @Costco especially, given @Costco's other stances.

As sad and scary the crash in D.C. is, it's worth bearing in mind ..
In 2023, about 43,000 people died from Gun Violence. Same year, less than 100 people died due to commercial air travel.
