Have yourself a Hieronymus Bosch Christmas.
This mural has gone up in Kingston, ostensibly for Christmas but AI has ensured it's actually to celebrate the return of our dark lord Cthulhu

One from the October vaults! In 1976, short-lived horror anthology Secrets of the Haunted House got into the spirit of the season with this great Bernie Wrightson cover art

News that a missing episode from BBC2's Late Night Horror may be returned soon pleases me greatly. I've seen The Corpse Can't Play at an official screening and that was very dark!

Five for a Pound DVDs of Halloween Day 5.
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
You've seen it. Hilariously bad in places. Great visuals. Great Morricone score. Essential for all the wrong reasons. Wish I'd kept that rare Making of paperback though. The End. Or is it ? Yes.

Five for a Pound DVDs of Halloween Day 4.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
I don't think I've ever seen a true crime serial killer flick that I didn't like. Zac Effron is great as Ted Bundy. I didn't recognize Hayley Joel Osment. James Hetfield from Metallica is a cop! Recommended.

Five for a Pound DVDs of Halloween Day 3.
Half Light (2006)
Demi Moore stars as a thriller writer who moves to a Scottish village after her son drowns. Okay ghost story/murder mystery made for people that don't really like horror films. Worth a look.

Five for a Pound DVDs of Halloween Day 2.
From Within (2008)
Revenge curse becomes a virus. Obviously influenced by J-Horror and It Follows. Not bad at all.

Five for a Pound DVDs of Halloween Day 1.
Long Time Dead (2002).
Some UK soap actors and Lukas Haas use a Ouija board to ressurect an evil Djinn. Dismal.

We used to think the future would be a warless, disease-free, gleaming utopia, but it turned out to be more like the plot of a zero-budget, straight-to-VHS, B-movie horror sci-fi that's so awful it doesn't even possess a so-bad-it's-funny-and-cool kind of charm.
