Who am I - 2025 pt 2 (Sci-Fi)
After 50 years of wrangling electrons through tubes, transistors, gates, & chips, writing code and running a business, I retired a short time ago to write stories. I've completed three novels that will likely never be published and am still writing—still learning.
Also, in a past life, I was the guy that created and maintained the Halomaps.org website for the Halo Custom Edition Game and ran a boutique website design and hosting service called UXB Internet.
I haven't been doing this long, but I have discovered that one of the hazards of being a writer is forgetting your steeping tea because you had an idea on how to fix a troubling paragraph and needed to get it down, then heating the lukewarm tea in the microwave.

Convincing you to read my short story by the first sentence. Share yours if you want.

"A man walked into a bar."
Convincing you to read my short story by the first sentence. Share yours if you want.

"If you're reading this, I'm probably already dead."
Convincing you to read my novel by the first sentence. Share yours if you want. (It's not out in the world yet but...)

"It's only when I hear the screaming that it occurs to me to run."

viscous fingering

My new favorite. An innocuous scientific term that sounds like something out of a 70s Times Square bookstore.

I haven't written a word in the past two days except to complain. It's cold, the democrats snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, it's cold, I can't afford {insert item}, it's cold, I need a new car, it's cold, and now that I haven't written my story and just complained in the past two days.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

This is what I want my senator to do the next time Chuck Schumer gets near a microphone.

If you don't know the context in this case, don't fret. It can apply to a plethora of things these days.
Damnit to f*ckin' hell!

Eliminating anyone is the exact opposite of the MC's goals in The Old Man's Legacy. However, He'd be more than happy to not have to deal with Akira again. A Māori woman who brought a gun into his home.

#WritingPrompt
If your MC could eliminate one character from your book/wip, who would they pick and why? A rival? A thorn in their side? An ex? #WritingPrompt

In The Old Man's Legacy, his run-in with a gun is nearly fatal and could have ended the story before it began.
How much would your book/wip change if your MC had a gun #WritingPrompt

How appropriate was it that it was mustard on Sandwich Guy's sub and not ketchup.
November 6, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Yes, I am glad you asked, I am indeed cold.
November 6, 2025 at 7:43 PM
A year ago, who would have thought that sandwich guy and green frog person would be the symbols of resistance?

The message of The Old Man's Legacy (WIP)? That the often discarded and most inconsequential of us can play a large role when push comes to shove, and that hope is always an option.
What sort of message do you hope people take away from your most recent book/wip? #WritingPrompt

Has anyone checked with the moving companies to see if they are being overwhelmed by phone calls from the empty suits.

From all the rhetoric I expected to see a line of moving vans clogging the cross bronx expressway and all the tunnels by now.

I am sorry for the the Cheney family's loss. I don't have any hate to spare for the man because all of it currently directed at the felon in chief whose demise (metaphorical or actual) I will celebrate with champagne.

Ok. This was good.
HAVE YOU VOTED YET? 🇺🇸

The "monster" in the Old Man's Legacy (WIP) is unseen and unknowable. It is only perceived by its action.
What makes the monsters in your book/wip monstrous? Is it their actions? Their perception by humanity? Are they just different? #WritingPrompt

Young person in grocery store: What's that sticker?
me: I voted today
YP: They give them out?
me: Don't you vote?
YP: I don't believe in the system.
me: ...
me: You don't believe in yourself?
YP: huh?
me: You know. We the people.
YP: what's that mean?
me: ...
me: google it.

Some days I weep.

I came out from under the thick comforter to let you know that I don't like the cold.
Tomorrow starts the hibernation period so I can keep the few friends and speaking relatives I have. The reason is because from now until spring every conversation with me will begin and end with a complaint about the cold weather.

Did I mention that I'm cold?

I mean, like, Duh!

They are not buying snake oil exactly but a marketing hype that doesn't come anywhere near the expectation of companies that want to de-human the workforce. The technology is not intelligent just an advanced version of the predictive text on your smartphone.

Open letter to (R) politicians

Stop lying about SNAP benefits and who receives them, you cruel compassionless lumps of parasitic, sycophants.

You can only use it for unprepared food & not for any kind of service, plus, it creates more economic activity than it costs.

Signed,
An ex-SNAP recipient.
