Palestinians are not “facing” starvation.

They are being starved to death by Israel.

Yet our government still refuses to end all arms sales and implement sanctions, granting endless impunity for Israel's crimes against humanity.

End the blockade — and stop the genocide.

Wow, that was fast and will be popular with white men who will be able to think “well I’m not the problem, it’s the foreigners”
Scratch a transphobe, a racist bleeds.

The most dangerous thing about AI chat bots is how many men with political power treat them *exactly* and unquestioningly like actual Ancient Greek oracles.

In my lifetime, the promotion of 'training' and 'skills' (esp. from gov) has come with the message of "the only way to move up or get paid more is to do training so you can change jobs". Business is going to absorb that message too.
Does this reluctance lie in a fearful way of thinking - "what if we train them but then they leave?" Rather than, say, "if we all do more training, we'll all become more productive?"
The UK's skills challenge in a nutshell:

"...British firms are oddly reluctant to offer training of any kind. They spend about half as much educating workers as companies in the EU do, even when courses of all types are combined"

‘I had to use AI for this because I couldn’t do it otherwise’

Then you couldn’t do it? Big whoop. I can’t do surgery or build a house or draw anything better than a stickman. So I would ASK SOMEONE WHO CAN AND THEN PAY THEM. OR LEARN HOW?! Stop short cutting life, you dork. It’s embarrassing 😬

British PM Starmer hugged Zelenskyy. That’s how bad U.S. foreign policy has gotten—it’s driving the Brits to physical displays of emotion.

To cede control of one's life as a release from the agony of deciding for oneself is very much Totalitarianism 101.

But why did we have to end up with the shittiest version of it possible?
Dave just showed me the ad for Spicerr, an “AI powered” spice Juicero that releases the “proper” amount of spices for your food and, what are we doing here people

Just so we’re clear:
1. Audiobooks count
2. Reading is political
3. The orange man is a piece of 💩

Thanks for stopping by 💃

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

This is bullshit. Don’t be fooled by TikTok going “dark” for one day. The Biden administration said they’d defer enforcement to Trump. This is just an act to make Trump look good when he “saves” TikTok on Monday.

it genuinely sucks that basically nothing on the internet works well anymore. search? barely works. social media? filled with garbage engagement-bait designed to game the algorithm. news websites? pages that refresh at random or so covered in video ads that it’s impossible to read stories

Not everyone is able to enjoy Christmas in comfort — here’s to a more equal world free of injustice, suffering & war.

Today, express gratitude to those who bring you joy!

people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!
