My intention with my first cartoon/humor book was to provide, in some small way, a little stress relief for my fellow veterinary students. So much grew from that because the veterinary community, at all levels, needs daily dosing sometimes to keep going, keep caring. www.amazon.com/Vet-School-S...

Finished The Veritas Codex (Book 1) by @authorbetseyk.bsky.social and enjoyed it enough to read the books that follow. Check it out!
In the meantime, the next up in my support of indie authors is Sivoa: Sunrise by @dragonmun.bsky.social H. Gorlitz Scott (no relation)

I think my first ever book, the cartoon/veterinary humor book, From the Back Row, is at its highest ranking ever in the top 100 veterinary books. #37! And if you're buying gifts for the veterinary people in your circle, don't forget the equally good sequel Vet School Survival Guide: Vet Med Spread

I am constantly surprised and pleased by the generosity of my readers. Here's the latest 5-Star review for The Half-Life of Grief: "This is a fun read for anyone, but particularly for residents of Tampa Bay. The author does a good job of creating an alternate universe in which cryptids are real,

When I see Kindle pages for someone reading the third in the trilogy, Dragon Vet Ascendant, the two wolves inside of me fight.
First wolf: "Oh, my. They're reading the third book because they liked the first two books so much!"

For the children on your gift-giving list, please consider my children's books, Callie and Cowabunga.
Callie (5-8 years) is a story about a calf born with colorful horn who learns that it's our differences that make us unique and special. #cow #cows #childrensbook #childrensbooks

In supporting my fellow indie authors. I've finished Earthrise by M.C.A. Hogarth, my intro to what is called the Pelted Universe which lends itself to a lot of expansive stories. Sci-fi with themes of found family and complicated relationships. And pirates! #scifi #scifinovel #scifiseries

Milestone: My first cartoon/humor book was From the Back Row which received its 50th positive review! I did it as prophecy for pre-vet students, sympathy for vet students, and therapy for veterinarians. funnyvet.com was built on it and the sequel Vet Med Spread.

In my sequel to the urban fantasy, The Half-Life of Grief, I expand on how humanoid cryptids work and live among the humans. I get to introduce my version of the fae with the militant and protective Tuatha on one end and the passive butterfly people on the other.

For dc.com, I write my farewell to one of the best Birds of Prey runs we've ever had.

Birds of Prey: A Swan Song for DC’s Showcase of Sisterhood | DC
What Kelly Thompson’s Birds of Prey always understood, and what it always expressed, was that at its core, Birds of Prey is a comic about sisterhood.

Some recent reviews for The Half-Life of Grief:
"what an amazing story! very difficult to genuinely feel for characters in a novel setting, but dean does a wonderful job with fleshing out these characters and this whole universe. the very end hit me in the feels in a good way.

I am terrible at marketing.

That said, I've started to lock in dates for my editor and cover artist for the proposed 2 - 3 books scheduled for next year's release (still haven't determined if I'll combine the two Dragon Vet spin-off stories or not).

Another post made me want to share the back of my business card. Perhaps an idea for those uncomfortable signing things for readers but still giving them something. A pre-printed autograph. I can't take full credit for the idea having heard Steve Martin does something similar. Just sharing for fun.

"So, what did you do last night?"
"I determined where the victim lived, their route home from work, where their death will occur, and how their body will be found."
"Uh, because you're a writer, correct?"
"Hm? Oh, yeah. I should lead with that."
