“Google Gemini was by far the worst. It would make up an authoritative-sounding summary with completely fake and wrong references — much more than the other chatbots. It also used a satire source as a news source.”

This company doesn’t get nearly enough blame imo
AI gets 45% of news wrong — but readers still trust it
The BBC and the European Broadcasting Union have produced a large study of how well AI chatbots handle summarising the news. In short: badly. [BBC; EBU] The researchers asked ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemi…

They myGov / myID SSO session management is unsurprisingly totally fucked. I can never login to connected services unless I start a new private browser session.

It is insane, joe rogan. But you were warned repeatedly, yet you helped get him elected and helped let this happen. It’s good that you’re speaking up, but please be honest with yourself about the role you played here.

Bear with my consipiracy theory for a moment... Is there a climate activist on Trump's team? Because tarrifs and reducing global trade and transport could be pretty amazing for emissions reduction.

Does anyone have enough balls to own up that it was a bad idea to vote for Trump yet? Bueller... Bueller... anyone....?

Dutton plans to halve fuel excise…but just for a year.
That’s not cost of living relief, that’s not policy…it’s just blatant pork-barreling

A nice sensible, unemotional perspective on renewables and electricity prices.
Power prices are set to rise again, even though renewables now account for 40% of the electricity in Australia’s main grid. But why? Aren't renewables meant to be cheap?

@tonyrwood.bsky.social explains why despite the price increase, we're still on the right path to net zero. buff.ly/hjPvNFV

There is no country/zone with a) high prices and low carbon emissions or b) with low prices and high emissions.

The higher the carbon emissions from electricity generation in 2024, the higher the prices and vice versa.

Great piece by Greg Jericho. ‘If we as a society are unwilling to either reward politicians who try to improve the system or punish those who vote to keep the system unfair, then we are sentencing our nation to worse inequality and a much more fractured society ruled by vested interests and fear.’
Misleading fear campaigns may kill Labor’s superannuation changes. But here are the real numbers | Greg Jericho
Increasing the tax rate on superannuation balances above $3m would affect less than 1% of the population – and yet it is still unlikely to pass

Energy generators poke holes in Dutton’s nuclear plan as questions over costings pile up

Part of me feels super excited to see the Coalition's nuclear 'policy' today because it'll be so funny and ridiculous, then I get sad when I realise it'll be full of lies and people will believe it.

Pretty happy to go to the optometrist today to get told my vision has improved so I don't need glasses for driving (even though I have since I was 16!). I put it down to lifestyle and health factors, mainly nutrition, but also choosing not to rely on glasses every day.

I'd love to meet the person who designed the SBS on Demand interface.

Acutely, I'd love to meet their boss, because their priority was clearly diversity hiring over ability.

It’s the way they’re bragging about the ban - when everyone knows it won’t work 😱😱

They know it won’t work - but they’re still bragging - because they feel safe that NewsCorp/Stokes/Nine/ABC won’t call them out.

They get their headline - and it won’t blow up till after the next election #auspol
