I think this is a rare bad legal take from Akiva. Even the Warren court said they thought it was possible to include the Bible in public schools for purely literary and non-religious educational purposes. Many school districts have tried to do so, to greater and lesser success (see below).

It’s official. Threat of falling iguanas for New Years.

Minerva, here depicted in her favorite overseer spot, was apparently feeling a little overexcited for Christmas and decided to leave me a dead palm rat at the foot of the bed this morning, a couple of days early.

Particularly amusing that he's the most underwater on tariffs and this is the advertising currently running for a local pro-Trump radio station.

I really can’t get over this one. People petitioned the government not to fire the teacher, which was disruptive, therefore we can fire the teacher under Pickering.
"People spoke out at a board meeting against us attempting to terminate the teacher, which obviously disrupted our operations, forcing us to fire the teacher"
Come on, man...

Injunction denied in case for local teacher fired for Facebook posts re:Kirk. Finds heckler's veto could be sufficiently disruptive of government operations so no evidence that teacher will clearly prevail on the facts (silly). Also found termination is in the past so remedy is damages (reasonable)

If you're collecting SSDI/SSI and SSA asks you to come in for an appointment to discuss your part-time work activity for your spouse's business I promise you it will be a lot cheaper if you contact an attorney BEFORE the appointment rather than after talking to SSA for 10 minutes.

@tznkai.bsky.social, you know who really is just nothing but a profiteering bane on the healthcare industry? Medical records copying companies like CIOX. Look at this. $35 bill to send a one-page electronic medical record.
HHS under Obama tried to limit this, but they sued and won under APA.

The 1983 claims for the guy ridiculously arrested and held over a plainly First Amendment protected Facebook post in Tennessee has been filed.
Presumably some parts of BlueSky will be angry that FIRE is on the case.

Obviously this is due to the Trump administration's actions and not the completely normal cyclical decline in rental prices during the winter...

One of the biggest moments of my career:
USCIS canceled my client’s naturalization oath ceremony. We filed a lawsuit, went to trial, and the judge swore him in right there in the courtroom!

@nationalsecuritylaw.org mind if I pick your brain on FOIA?

I got a fairly timely response to a request back in 2023 but I just discovered pretty conclusive evidence it was not a complete disclosure. Any remedy beyond filing a new request to specifically ask for the material I now know is missing?

Massie is of course 100% correct. Journalists asking any elected Republican about this will get the now familiar "I haven't seen it. Can't comment" lie.
Vaguely curious how Leavitt will manage to respond to any inquiries about it though.
congressional republicans are disappointed that the monster they elevated is behaving like a monster

Tremendously reassuring that the local field office (which I was actually able to get through to with only 20 minutes on hold!) agrees that she's not currently in pay but can't figure out any reason why...
Just got a fully favorable decision on a remanded continuing disability review case. Local field office trying to tell the claimant that benefits won't start until April because of the 5-month Title II waiting period. *Continuing* disability review! She went through her waiting period 20 years ago!

Continuing to have fun with Draw Steel’s official adventures.
The heroes finished their fall through a couple of stories of the inn in Blackbottom.
How sad for the poor polder elementalist that he landed right between two groups of demons.

Did you see she's hired Klayman for it?

Peter, here’s a hint. If when they called her case they didn’t say *United States* v. Tina Peters then the offense she committed wasn’t against the United States.

With that detail in mind, I turn you to Article II, Section 2, Clause 1.

Have been able to confirm with three different sources that they no longer have jurisdiction so the egregiously bad letter is going to get a polite "go pound sand" response.
The Naples, FL SSA field office is continuing its more than decade long tradition of being staffed by the rankest incompetents it has been my displeasure to work with.
