For context the UK was at 24-26 which is actually pretty good in comparison here only behind Norway and Sweden
Almost 20,000 people lost their lives on EU roads in 2024. We need to bring this number as close to zero as possible.

I’m delighted to be working with colleagues and a former student from Sri Lanka on karst aquifers in the Jaffna Peninsula, which are vital for development yet increasingly threatened by saltwater intrusion and anthropogenic pressures.

Just think about these numbers
UK population- 70m
Top 0.1% - 70,000
Bottom 50% - 35,000,000

So those 70k use more in 3 days than 35m use in 365 days

But politicians say it's not effective or"realistic" to target the rich.

That's just a cowardly excuse to protect themselves
The world's richest 0.1% took just three days to exhaust their annual carbon budget

The UK’s richest 1% produced more carbon pollution in eight days than the poorest 50% used in a year.

We can't afford the rich - they produce corruption, poverty, environmental degradation; destroy democracy.
World’s richest 1% have already used fair share of emissions for 2026, says Oxfam
Richest 1% took 10 days while wealthiest 0.1% needed just three days to exhaust annual carbon budget, study shows

Politics is about choices and actions.

Here is a politician choosing to make a city better for all people

-cleaner environment
-healthier/more active population
-more attractive and therefore more economically successful
IMPORTANT: Paris has more than “vision.” They have clear plans. Including a 5-Year Pedestrian Plan:
- 300 million € invested by 2026
- 100 new hectares of ped space
- 100 more “streets for kids”
- Focus on 0 pedestrian deaths #VisionZero
- Longer ped cross times

Does your city follow smart plans?

The immigration doom loop in full swing.

Chasing the xenophobes is a doomed strategy both economically *and* politically.

We need to fight for happiness, love and kindness

Chaplin spent some early years in a Workhouse a stones throw from where I'm sitting now.

Proud of the lad for this impassioned speech
The first time Charlie Chaplin spoke onscreen, he implored the people of the world to resist the rising tide of fascism.

Nearly 90 years later, it remains a timely message.

Sure they just had acres of space and countless dangerous crosses from their right side

4 goals conceded sucks

Despite the loss it was a fun game and one of our most difficult still remaining

And we should have got something

But this team fight and they all contribute

Onto the next one #lufc

#lufc @allstatsarentwe.bsky.social well we've eschewed mid block-y stodge for basketbally chaos and for the time being it's a fun game and it's just about working

I'm not sure I trust us to stodge it up at the moment

Who knows what happens next

Today's show cooker Sunday was a version of this

www.slowcookercentral.com/uncategorize...

Changes included turkey breast for chicken and a loaf of baby potato chopped into large chunks

It was cracking and a fair bit of heat.
Leftovers for the next couple of days

Crikey,
West ham
Burnley
Forest
Were all dreadful today

#LUFC I remember our form earlier this season where being competitive & not getting results morphed into bad performances and worse results.

I just hope they stay that bad

But regardless it's in our hands we're better than them

Similarly if we'd had politicians who had any vision we'd almost have the full HS2 built and functional by now.

Imagine that. Maybe even the planning to join it up to HS1

oh for leaders who want to lead
Every single project is the same and the deciding factor is if politicians can hold their nerve.
