Yesterday at TPAC I publicized my draft proposal for adding a declarative templating API to the DOM.

The repo has:
📖 Explainers for the templating API and DOM scheduler API
🏗️ Full prototype implementations
⚗️ a JSX transform

I am looking for a full-time job.
Being independent in open source for 3.5+ years has been wonderful. I've gotten done most of the high-level goals I wanted to, and miss having people & structure around me.
If you know of a role for a staff-level TypeScript+web developer, let me know! 🙂

Excellent and accurate thread.
Hipster hosting just ain't realistic for things that have to work at global scale, despite what people want to believe.

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).
It’s also concerning. 1/

PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.

Had a really great time with The Outer Worlds 2 this weekend. The reviews seem to be all over the place - which I think is perhaps reflective of how much your builds do seem to matter.
Setting is still a touch indistinct, but ~15 hours in is hitting its stride.

Nobel laureates also sign letter saying ASI technology should be barred until there is consensus that it can be developed ‘safely’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have joined artificial intelligence pioneers and Nobel laureates in calling for a ban on developing superintelligent AI systems.
Harry and Meghan are among the signatories of a statement calling for “a prohibition on the development of superintelligence”. Artificial superintelligence (ASI) is the term for AI systems, yet to be developed, that exceed human levels of intelligence at all cognitive tasks. Continue reading...

The problem is a social contract isn't... a contract at all.
Social contracts all trend towards promoting a power imbalance because people with it will choose not to be bound.

my woke take is that entirely too many people feel entitled to the benefits of a social contract while not feeling bound by the responsibilities of said contract

Unfortunately we're at the bit where critique of technology is where critique of journalism has been for the past decade and a half.
There is no "the technology industry", just like there isn't "the media".
There is wealth, and those that would use it to weaponise good things against you.
