Every time I want to post on politics and the miserable state of the world, someone smarter than me has already said it better than I ever could. So I'll stick to talking about escapist bullshit. For the most part.

Regardless of whether their characters are lawful, given the chance, all players are pure chaos.

The average D&D party is 3 questions away from being confined to a memory care unit. Where are you? What are you doing? What day is it?

“We asked then who their care giver was and they started listing off gibberish or pun names. Like asking us as if we need to tell them. Then they pulled a sword.”

Our next D&D session is in like 2 hours and I may have a problem. The party is going to fight a mad lich trying to summon an eldritch horror. At some point the offer will be made for the party to join them and accept the eldritch horror’s gift (undeath and ???).

Happy 2026. May this year not feel quite as long as 2025, which by all accounts felt like it was about a decade long.

It has been 13 months since I’ve kept to anything resembling a gym routine and wow am I feeling it trying to get back into it

Also maybe SUVs and Trucks shouldn’t have front blind spots as tall as a 5th grader.
this is actually kind of a shit argument because many of the most lethal types of firearms are heavily restricted or outright illegal to own while every year we make deadlier cars and sell them to whoever

This makes me think about how 20 years ago Ann Coulter was laundering South African white supremacist talk points with no pushback from the media. This year Trump pushed those exact same points. This feels like a natural progression for the generation born into and raised in that media environment

Tell me again about how Zohran Mamdani is the big threat to Jewish thriving in the US today.

The one possible silver lining of the RAM shortage is that it may force game developers to stop putting together such bloated sloppy code. Like maybe every game doesn’t need to be 100GB and require blazing amounts of memory.

I got an opinion poll about the NY-12 primary and was so tempted to put don’t know/not familiar when they asked for my opinion of Mamdani

In my copious spare time I really need to relearn how to use a sewing machine. And find a place to keep it if I buy one

It took 11+ months for our kid to get sick with something that knocked out both me and my husband at the same time. And he hasn’t even started daycare yet. I can only imagine how parents manage before Tylenol and Pedialite

My husband recently discovered the Ezra Klein subreddit and keeps sending me excerpts. Not surprisingly about half the people on there who passionately defend Klein just really want to be able to say the N word without consequences

What I don’t see is much space if any for a plenum and things ductwork. If they fuck up the HVAC and this swampland ballroom is unbearable 9 months out of the year, it will be so incredibly funny.

I have done work in historical buildings. I’ve done work on government buildings. I have done projects where partial demolition of an existing building was done to permit an expansion. Not a one had demolition that looked like this.
Behold: Republican permitting reform.

Please, please no. I’m happy to have Harris build a retirement fund from her book tour and disappear from the public eye. But the latter needs to happen

Okay, but bear with me. What if we taxed rich people more to help out folks who barely make in a year what her outfit cost?

As a wise man once said, “it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

I’m just relieved that cost wasn’t paid by school children this time.

This is just embarrassing
What's difficult for reporters is there's no evidence showing Trump's actual reasons for the deployments. You can speculate (he doesn't like blue cities, he wants to crush anti-Trump protests, he wants to intimidate voters next year) but the only reported justification is the anti-crime crackdown.

This is correct and true for all people. The “standard of social acceptability” is actually a very low bar to clear. The fact that some people complain about it just reflects on who they are, because it’s not hard to meet, they just don’t want to try.

Today’s friendly reminder that laws are arbitrary and subject to the whims of those who write them. Anyone can be made “illegal” if powers that be wish to do so. You see it today with mass revocations of otherwise valid visas in the US. You saw it in Germany in the 1930s.
By the way, I think I am actually allowed to loose a bit of hellfire on someone who comes into my timeline, whilst I am posting at length all week about holocaust tragedies and related infamy, and says confident that some people are "illegal".
