American Teacher well away from America. Worker Bee.

Pretty sure that I’m both imperfect and doing mostly the right things.
Paintball industry, too!
Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

So...for-profit textbooks are basically dead now, right? As much as I am sympathetic to ethical AI concerns, my heart is having a hard time weeping for this particular thing.

So…have we just decided that we’re all cool with 3-4 companies destroying the ability to tell reality from fiction?

The constant stupidity of “governance” by the worst Americans alive is exhausting.

I dig this and it jives with my own sense of but I definitely see a possible (probable?) future where a strong in-person, human element to an education is a product of privilege. I doubt a school like mine will ever not have humans at the forefront. A public system in a red state…not so much.
"Responding to AI by doubling down on the humanity of the humanities appears to be working...[O]ur ever-greater reliance on nonhuman interlocutors and assistants has given new value to the very fact of face-to-face exchange between humans."

AI improves education by forcing human resistance.

This week’s piece looks at using an LLM to solve an educational problem of practice in a way that I’d argue is actually useful ethical. Your feedback/counterpoint are both welcome and necessary: davidknuffke.medium.com/ethical-ai-e...

I feel like much of the discourse around the recent decision of a specific, fringe-right congresswoman to retire is not focused on how she will do so two days after she qualifies for the lifetime pension. It might also have to do with a trump rift, but it’s much more likely just plain grift.

Sorry to be controversial, friends, but I’m going to go on record here and note that I, too, believe that members of the American military have a duty under the law to disobey illegal orders.

Every day brings new debasements.
The official CDC website on autism and vaccines is now a screed of cherry-picked data and conspiratorial thinking claiming that actually vaccines *might* cause autism.

This is where we’re at folks…

Sure reads like the American regime is complicit in crimes against humanity…
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Just want to note that the ADL endangers the lives of Jews everywhere with its heinous, fascist-accommodating posturing. It’s a gross organization.
The ADL has decided to treat fascists as allies and progressives as enemies. For a group that is tasked with protecting American Jews, that is a world historic fuck up.

I will never forgive these people for their moral decrepitude.

It is totally reasonable and acceptable to expect landlords to abide by safe housing practices and zoning laws. Absent that being a concern, anyone should be able to live anywhere. vance is too dumb and racist to be in charge of anything.
Vance says it is "totally reasonable and acceptable" for people to not want to live next door to people who speak a different language than they do
