Francisco Barahona, who has been living and working in Canada for 15 years, has been struggling to access treatment for the cancer he was diagnosed with in 2023. A hospital called immigration because he didn’t have status. He’s being deported Wednesday.

Does it not inspire any introspection that the biggest fans of the Trump "peace plan" for Gaza on the left of center are those who were most vital to the Biden administration's own MENA efforts? McGurk, Sullivan, Dan Shapiro, Blinken himself. All praise it or even take varying degrees of credit.

There’s a wolf in LA for the first time in 100 years. A collared gray wolf entered the mountains of north Los Angeles County yesterday. Known as “BEY03F” she traveled hundreds of miles from her pack in Plumas County crossing highways, mountains, creeks and valleys.

Women’s and human rights activist, arrested at a demonstration in December, is said to be on hunger strike
Iran has sentenced the Nobel peace prize laureate Narges Mohammadi to more than seven more years in prison after she began a hunger strike, her supporters said Sunday, as Tehran cracks down on all dissent following nationwide protests and the deaths of thousands at the hands of security forces.
The new convictions against Mohammadi come as Iran tries to negotiate with the US over its nuclear programme to avert a military strike threatened by Donald Trump. Iran’s top diplomat said on Sunday that Tehran’s strength came from its ability to “say no to the great powers”, striking a maximalist position just after negotiations in Oman with the US. A warehouse in south Kansas City could be sold to the federal government to become an ICE detention center. That warehouse, owned by Platform Ventures, had received a $21 million tax incentive from the Port Authority of Kansas City.
Platform Ventures got Port KC tax incentives to build a warehouse. Now they’re selling it to ICE
Platform Ventures pitched a warehouse development as a job creator for south Kansas City. Port KC is concerned that a sale to ICE would undermine job growth in the area.

This Danish bottom trawler is now getting pretty annoying. Again and again visiting South-Norwegian waters just between our marine national parks. Landing large amounts of halibut back home to Denmark. That fish is now protected all year round in Norwegian Skagerrak.
