Uncharacteristically, the Trump Administration didn't actually enshitify the new data.opm.gov, where federal employment data is published. It's actually better in some respects than the previous version, which published everything as these OLAP cubes that were hard to work with.

We even have laws on the books that quite explicitly address all of this madness. 18 USC § 241 and 242, "Conspiracy Against Rights" and "Deprivation of Right Under Color of Law".

In terms of how serious those laws are: if kidnapping, sexual abuse, or death results, they are capital crimes.

I was involved in the administration of one of those point-in-time counts a while back… Only observed homeless people are counted, meaning it's likely an undercount. More importantly, the process is documented and repeatable, so numbers should be comparable from year to year.

This is the most government self own imaginable.
1. ICE has STOPPED PAYING for medical treatment for its 73,000 detainees

ICE has not paid its bills to 3rd party providers since OCTOBER and the situation will likely persist for MONTHS, a Popular Information investigation reveals

Meanwhile, critically ill ICE detainees are not receiving care

The state should indict members of that secret police force for their crimes; let's find out if they actually have immunity, and what the limits of that immunity are.

I don't think* they have the kind of blanket immunity the Regime claims

*I explain here patreon.com/posts/147687764/
a heavily armed paramilitary force with legal immunity is occupying a city and going door to door kidnapping non-white adults and children in furtherance of an explicitly white nationalist political project

ICE secretly told its officers that any time someone has been ordered removed, ICE can break down their door.

It has been accepted for generations that the only thing which can authorize agents to break into your home is a warrant signed by a judge. No wonder ICE hid this memo!

This kind of screening on an outbound flight is quite normal. It’s frequently CBP, but ICE does it too when they are looking for someone. They’ve been doing it forever.
New— An American citizen boarding flight from Boston to Lisbon just now told me after showing boarding pass, every passenger stopped on jetway by two ICE agents demanding to take their photo. When passenger asked why, ICE threatened to detain them. If they said no photo, couldn't board/TBD detained.

The custom (not law!) of placing a hand on a religious text when making an oath is rooted in the idea that the person adheres to that faith and therefore would never lie with their hand on its main text.

That's why you don't force Muslims to swear on a Bible, or Christians on the Koran.
Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

It’s shocking how few people know about the I-9 process, despite filling one out at every legitimate job you’ve ever had.

Add that to the list of things that the average American doesn’t know about our broken immigration system.
January 17, 2026 at 3:59 AM
This business might have never experienced this before, but this is the “normal” way that unauthorized employment is supposed to be investigated. I-9s have always been subject to administrative inspection by the feds.

Granted, it should be more like a tax audit than a SWAT raid.
DHS employees entered our store this afternoon and served us a Notice of Inspection, demanding copies of I9 forms for each employee.

In 27 years as shopkeepers, we have never been subjected to this type of investigation.

America has a housing shortage. Every single housing proposal you see that is not "build more housing" will have the primary effect of pushing up the prices of existing housing, and is therefore, in reality, a plan to enrich current homeowners. In conclusion, build more housing.

I just can't come up with a scenario where having a gun would help me survive a situation.

A lot of the performative gun nuts who carry seem to ignore the fact the only legal use of deadly force is to protect human life. You can't use it threaten people, and you can't use it to protect property.
as a small person who has spent a ton of time traveling alone without ever feeling the need to carry a gun, I also think about this a lot
As a small woman I think it’s pathetic to feel the need to carry a gun everywhere to feel safe. If I don’t feel the need how tf do these men that think they’re so big and tough.
