“Critics have likened Mr. Trump’s approach to extortion, while others agree it’s extortion but aren’t critics.”
How did the @nytimes.com editors let this sentence appear?

"Critics have likened Mr. Trump’s approach to extortion, while others have chalked it up as a cost of doing business with this administration."

When we launched, it took weeks to even get @thebarbedwire.com indexed on Google search. Apple News verified us in April. Google News verified us last month.

Today, a story that we’ve spent weeks reporting and editing —because it felt really important — is on Apple News’ top stories.

It’s No. 4.

Basically, college student journalists are reporting rings around the adults (mixed metaphor, not a journo, so work with me)... We join Bunch already in progress: “...Earlier this month, Summers took to social media (the Elon Musk-owned X, of course) with a rant against the student-run paper at the Ivy League school he once helmed, linked to…

heres an example of politico covering the news while still covering for trump. the headline says trump is calling for a "trial" for dems. but what trump actually said is the dems should be offed. its very plain what he said. not saying so is a cover-up.

I’d started to wonder whether the Epstein files were a bit of a macguffin, but no no they implicate the President of the United States in a pedophilia ring—and show the entire Republican Party as well as much of the federal government has been baldly covering it up. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Bad misread to describe the anger at Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats as exclusively “progressive.” I can attest to multiple moderate/centrist types who are livid—because they value rights, law, and democracy, unlike the Appeasement Eight in the Senate—and I’m reasonably confident it’s widespread.

And I've been doing politics for long enough to know clearly that the entire Senate Democratic caucus agreed to this decision to fold. Open your eyes. The 8 who "broke" did so with the complete blessing of Schumer and their colleagues. You don't have to play along because this is not a game. The end

I will never understand the pundit obsession with getting Democrats to solve "political division."

Not only is this what they're already doing, but Klein admits that Republicans will never do the same. So elections will remain constant GOP smears and simping Democratic promises of bipartisanship.
