Just once I want a reporter to follow up with "Do you believe it is appropriate for the Speaker of the House to be so consistently unaware of events that affect his position?"
Q: Rep. Jayapal accused the DOJ of tracking her search history. Is that appropriate conduct?

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that

Q: Bondi had a piece of paper with Jayapal's search history

JOHNSON: I don't know anything about that but it would be inappropriate if it happened

Kinda rich for a Republican to scream about "smirking" witnesses after the shit Bondi pulled yesterday.
Ron Johnson to Keith Ellison: "Two people are dead because you encouraged them to put themselves into harm's way! And now you are exploiting those two martyrs. You ought to feel damn guilty about it. Yeah, sit there and smirk. Smirk. It's sick! It's despicable. You disgust me."

Invoking wealthy class solidarity to excuse sex crimes against children is sorta the Epstein Class in a nutshell
Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

Meta-gaming in a #ttrpg is always a tricky balance, but last night one of my players said "We are ABSOLUTELY killing this guy, because we are not giving John that clock to tick in the background", which speaks to a well-deisgned mechanic *and* properly understanding their GM's level of dickery.

Bad Bunny’s performance began in the plantation, featured broken electric poles, and ended by centering a hemispheric understanding of “América”—among many other things—and some Anglo journalists are like “his performance wasn’t political.”

This is why we need to be telling our stories.

If you don't know anything about Puerto Rico, maybe shut up about Puerto Rico, and maybe if you are a public figure and you don't know anything about Puerto Rico and you won't stop badmouthing Puerto Rico, possibly do the world a favor and head towards a volcano and keep walking til your shoes melt.

My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

“our stories are good enough for TV but the writers aren’t?” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I may delete this because it’s a bit spicy but it shouldn’t be lost on us that games being turned into TV is essentially harvesting the stories written by those who don’t have union representation or healthcare with WGA by those that do. Our stories are good enough for TV but the writers aren’t?

"Successful anti-authoritarian movements do not win by softening their positions. They win by building unlikely coalitions around a broadly resonant grievance."

Like, say, corruption. Or, unchecked corporate power.
How Not to Defeat Authoritarianism
Moderation used to help Democrats win, but its advantages now have been greatly exaggerated.

1: Belief =/= facts
2: So many people still believe it because you keep brining it up and saying it happened. That's how it got traction in 2020 to begin with!
Rep. Carlos Gimenez on Trump's lies about the 2020 election: "You may say 100 times that it's 'false claims,' but there are a number of people in this country that don't believe that, okay? They believe that something happened."

Attempting to release something that is devoid of politics is inherently a political act. Specifically it's a tacit endorsement of society's current norms as acceptable.

Our cultural zeitgeist includes the impact of our politics. Attempting art devoid of modern social trends is a fool's errand.

Me: Yes, but no because that's a mancatcher and my ancestry is a catfolk, so...
GM (clearing ignoring me): Cool, roll this Reflex save.
Me: Critical success. I will not be taking a trip to the vet today.

The only explanation I can think of for this (other than the obvious fact that Elon Musk is an idiot) is that he's trying to give JK Rowling a job that only she will apply for and qualify for.
X is hiring a creative writing specialist at $40 an hour to make Grok better at writing and a true LOL at the qualifications
