Things might look bleak, but we'll be OK in the end. We've got through this type of crisis before by working together as a team and helping a brave young pilot to exploit a design flaw in the Death Star and... no, wait. That's a movie I once saw. Sorry. As you were. We're doomed.

Someone invited me to their dog's birthday party on Saturday.

What a freak! I am NOT coming to your dog's birthday party!

Besides, my cat is getting married that weekend!

Dear Labour - there is not enough red meat you can throw a Reform voter to get them to vote for you. Stop bloody trying as you aren’t getting them on side but are losing everyone else! How the hell can we all see this but not you!?

I just watched the Netflix documentary on Grenfell. I taught in a school near it and I live in the same borough.
It was a rare glimpse of how the establishment saw us, the working people of this country. Unimportant scroungers who don’t matter. An eyesore to be covered up as cheaply as possible.

It's utterly mad.
These people are the opposite of terrorists.
THEY WANT PEACE.
The police know they're not terrorists.
The government knows they're not terrorists.
Yet, on the Home Secretary's orders, they're being arrested under the Terrorism Act.

Farage should never be interviewed without being forced to answer for failures of Brexit. That the man whose lies fuelled Brexit vote which has cost UK Billions & who said Liz Truss budget was “best Tory budget since 1986” could be trusted on *anything* is mind-boggling #bbclaura

Labour backbencher Imran Hussain asked a powerful question at #PMQs calling for UK sanctions on the Israeli govt, just like the UK rightly imposes on Russia over Ukraine.

Incredibly disappointing response from PM. Hand-wringing only, totally ignoring calls for sanctions and arms embargo.

Articulated lorries shouldn't be allowed to overtake each other on motorways. One speed limiter is 59.0 and another is 59.2? Who cares? Make a convoy and arrive a few minutes later.

The Met Office has warned that extreme weather is the new normal in the UK.

Meanwhile, newly elected Reform politicians are busy denying the science.

Climate science denial is dangerous, irresponsible and a betrayal of the very communities they claim to represent.

Labour’s message is clear: they are there to protect the lifestyles of billionaires.

Keir Starmer and Sadiq Khan protect the wealth of the 1%, whilst they watch everyone else struggle from their private jets.

Wealth tax. Now.

Not every life can be spared from climate change, unfortunately, but many more could be saved if elected officials stopped pretending that climate change isn’t happening or that they’re powerless to do something about it.
The Texas Floods Were Made Worse by Climate Denialism

Helpless? Prayers? That’s what pastors and civilians should be doing. We pay members of Congress to ask hard questions, start investigating, and find out if the government could have done more. Do it now before the next storm. We aren’t paying you to pray. We are paying you to help all of us.
Mike Johnson on Texas floods: "In a moment like this, we feel just as helpless as everyone else does ... all we know to do at this moment is pray."

Politics can be complex, but every so often it’s pretty easy to tell which side of history you’re on. For example, if you require the police to arrest elderly ladies for peacefully protesting against genocide, that’ll probably be the wrong side.

Brexit a 'disaster' that 'ruined the country' - referendum 'should be repeated'
On the ninth anniversary of the day the UK voted to leave the EU, we asked readers to have their say on whether Brexit has been a success - and Mirror readers had a lot to say on the matter.
