New LLM metaphor just dropped

"a prolific programmer who pumps out code far faster than others but works in a totally tactical fashion" – a mode long adored by management

Tactical tornado is the new default
The more work we delegate to LLMs, the closer we are to becoming tactical tornadoes ourselves.

The developer of a code counting tool ranked popular proglangs by density. I am not surprised that "according to the data, if you want the highest ratio of human thought to keystrokes, the winner is the 60 year old concept, Lisp running as a modern JVM language Clojure."

Most unusual SI/methods write-up I've seen in a while: Digging in Utah scrapbooks for hair samples to document historic lead levels. Remarkable findings, note the log-scaled y-axis.

I murmured to myself “nice” upon reading the highlighted text. I mean, 🐐 milk, 🐑 yogurt, plums and hot cakes? 😋 A nice lifestyle.

Tapped the note from ~2011 and it reads “sounds good to me” 😂

I exist because my grandfather fled Berlin “too early” in ‘34, when he was merely prohibited from some forms of practicing medicine.

It’s okay to see the writing on the wall!
I had a relative who literally hid with Anne Frank in that attic. If you cannot be accused of exaggerating, it’s too late. Once they’re marching kids into gas chambers, it’s too late.
The Minnesota governor is getting widespread criticism for comparing children dealing with immigration enforcement to Holocaust victim Anne Frank.

This is a deep dive into the details of how Neanderthal ancestry is patterned across ancient genomes of modern people. A wave of mixture starting in the Near East kept mixing as long as the expanding group kept meeting Neanderthals, from France to Central Asia.

Tracing the wave of Neanderthal-modern interactions
A rapid expansion of modern people ran into Neanderthals and mixed with them nearly to the ends of their range.

A residential parking permit should cost its €42 admin costs (obviously) plus €365 parking fee (surely €1 per day is low?) plus about €400 rent for public space (again, low) in the central parts.

Roughly €800 is a bit closer to the true, economic costs of downtown car ownership in #Berlin.

Love cycling westward on Karl-Marx-Straße because it’s a kilometer-&-a-half long traffic jam for cars every time, and I get to sail by until almost Hermannplatz. 🚲 🚲 🚲

As I've said, I actually support the limits on micromobility, but they have to be paired with ones that are the same or slower for cars. I've long called for 20 across the board on anything that moves in NYC. A system that vilifies ebikes and suggests we're more dangerous than cars is insane.
