As I've said, I actually support the limits on micromobility, but they have to be paired with ones that are the same or slower for cars. I've long called for 20 across the board on anything that moves in NYC. A system that vilifies ebikes and suggests we're more dangerous than cars is insane.

Planning a transit trip from Manhattan to North Jersey tomorrow, and we're going to need to pay 3 separate agencies 3 separate fares 3 separate times and boy that doesn't seem efficient for anyone?

Doing this much homework on how to buy tickets shouldn't be necessary!

I laughed about Huel being “spiritually bad.” I also wish one could just trust media outlets that break news about supposedly troubling contamination to not lean into the story at the cost of scientific accuracy.

...how do we get 27 transport authorities out of 16 Bundesländer?
Germany aims to reunify the procurement of PSO trains in order to make their acquisition and maintenance easier and cheaper. The model is based on that of the VDV Tram-Train consortium.
Germany's 27 states join forces to make joint train purchases
Since regionalisation, purchasing has become fragmented, losing the benefits of economies of scale.

Carry Shit Olympics: a two-parter

This enormous house plant needed to go from Neukölln to Mitte. My first attempt failed: my Muli’s front bucket couldn’t stabilize it, and visibility was not good. I stopped off in Kreuzberg to regroup.

My great aunt is in her 80s and lives in a Vancouver apartment. She doesn't drive anymore, too painful for her back, but she walks every day. Her walker fits a shopping basket perfectly on the seat, so she takes the bus to the store and then walks home with her groceries.

Today we laid Stolperstein for my distant cousins’ great-uncle and his second wife.

I like the manual process of Stolpersteinverlegung. They kneel down close and get in there with custom hand tools. Takes maybe ten minutes, just the right amount of time for a speech.
