If you're in the UK and you're annoyed that you don't know which AI companies are training on your copyrighted work without permission, the reason is now simple: the Labour party.

This isn't a political statement - it's a fact.

This is long. But it's also magnificent, and absolutely worth your time if you're interested in where the new Pope seems to be going. Grab a drink before you start.
Pope Leo's first sermon and, uh, his using the phrase "be ever more fully a city set upon a hill" and cf'ing it to Rev 21:10 instead of any of the others before saying "many baptized Christians" are "living in a state of practical atheism" is. Well. Shots fired!

Read Pope Leo XIV's first homily as pope
During his homily, delivered in Italian, Leo XIV said that Christians must serve a world that is often hostile to their beliefs.

So, the @princecharlescinema.com is under threat by landlords who want to cash in on their site. Absolutely horrendous news. This is a brilliant, brilliant place.

Re current major layoffs at Splash Damage/Bulkhead, I know things won’t always feel this terminal, but bloody hell, it’s so sad.
One thing I can say with confidence: writing someone a detailed, bespoke personal/professional Recommendation on LinkedIn really, REALLY helps.

I've said this before, and I feel the need to say it today. Women SF&F writers don’t take best-of lists, recommended-for-award-nominations and shortlists, these articles and review columns that erase us ‘personally’. We object because they damage us professionally.

Here we go again. Another badly skewed list of fantasy books recommended for newcomers.
Must be a day with a Y in it. Yes, well-informed readers are pushing back against this particular dated, limited and male-dominated list, and no, I’m not going to link to it and argue the toss over...

More seriously, though, here's to new beginnings. It's been a long time since we were all shiny and new on Twitter; lessons have been learned, toxic people left behind and life's much quieter now, which I have to say I like very much indeed. And I have the sea again, after too long away.

I suppose I should make this something interesting, really. A new start on a new platform. Something meaningful, deep - profound even.

Hmm...

It was a bit parky out this evening. I might have to consider breaking out the long trousers if this keeps up.

Ah well, better luck next time, I guess.
