I’m often asked for accessibility resources for beginners.
@laurakalbag.bsky.social's book has been my go to. It’s clear, practical, and works for designers, developers, and anyone involved in building products. The best part: it’s now free and available online.

the new (beta) @penpot.app renderer is such a huge improvement. snappier in a 100-tab browser window from hell than the Figma desktop app with a single file open. i know i keep saying this but if you design for the web and you haven't tried penpot you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl.

I really wasn't expecting much when I posted this morning saying I was looking for work. I hadn't even got out of bed yet. But so many lovely humans have reposted or liked it. Thanks all! ❤️

I’m not a big user of BlueSky (yet), but if anyone sees this I’m looking for work.

I’m a front-end developer, with a focus on low-carbon, design-led, accessible, websites — often using Astro and headless CMSs like Storyblok.

I’m open to freelance or possibly the right perm role 🤞

I've just created a APCA + WCAG 2 Contrast Checker tool to help people choose the best color combinations that suit both the WCAG 2.x requirements and also support the APCA which has some real advantages in some contexts.

Does anyone have any good tips for dealing with burnout? Don’t think I’ve had it this bad in ~20 years.

In place of a new comic, have an old one instead. This was my first comic to joke about the preposterous idea of a robot taking someone's job. 2018. How innocent we were...

Alright, we're actually doing this open working thing.

We're going to work on projects, for real clients who are set up to make people's lives tangibly better.

We can only do that if it works financially though because we've got mortgages etc.

Your support will make this happen.
We’re trying a rather radical new approach at Piccalilli by doing real world projects — for real clients — in the open. This gives us a context to provide genuine high quality, real world education for free at the point of entry.

You can tell it’s nearly December when clients start saying “We need this by the end of the year”.

Ah yes, the festive tradition of last-minute panic. Who needs a relaxing build up to Christmas anyway?

💚 A big thank you to everyone who took part across the UK last week! It’s inspiring to see so many campaigners urging their MPs to back the Climate and Nature Bill.

I hoped I’d be wrong but I think a big % of Americans would simply never vote for a woman.

To them, even a senile fascist running the country is easier to stomach than a female president.

Most won’t even admit this to themselves. It just so happens that no female candidate is ever good enough.

Would you like to display your Bluesky posts in your Astro site? I've made an Astro content loader for Bluesky! When you build the site it loads your posts and puts them in a content collection. You can then display them on a page, or use the raw data however you want.
