Donald Trump and Elon Musk are gutting the IRS.

What does that mean for you?

Longer call wait times and more wealthy tax cheats. It’s the story of the Trump Administration: Billionaires win, families lose.
IRS to Lose 20% of Workforce to New Trump Resignation Offer (1)
About 20,000 IRS workers—roughly one-fifth of the agency—are taking the Trump administration’s second deferred resignation offer, according to a person familiar with the matter.

College freshman today were 6 years old in the 2012 election.

A student of mine (age 20) told me after class that he appreciates when I explain how US politics and media were different before, because the Trump era is all he’s seen.

This is what young Americans think politics is. It’s normal now.
I think that folks aren't seriously thinking about the implications of young adults who know nothing other than a country which has normalized MAGA politics, God help us all.

As someone who spent his childhood in such camps, I implore you: We must not let history repeat.

Fascism has come before to America. It destroyed so many lives. We can resist it today and not repeat the mistakes of the past. / end

What a strange headline for a story that notes:

1. 2,169 ballots were rejected for no ID.
2. "The voter ID law disproportionately hindered Democrats."
3. "The evidence overwhelmingly shows" that fraud "is essentially nonexistent."
4. The state Supreme Court race was decided by only 625 votes.

If you're following the international coverage it's clear that the US was critical in setting this up—as in, Israeli politicians are almost universally thanking Biden specifically for it—but I've barely seen this aspect covered in the US press (which is odd given they're usually way too US centric).

Certainly some people support Trump despite this, but many support him because of it. Plenty of Americans are fascist lunatics who would kill you for a nickel.

This week was the most unhinged week Republicans have had in Congress for a while, which is saying something: Meltdowns, screaming and multiple (near and actual) physical altercations (including threatening to beat up a witness in a hearing) just stunning stuff.
