NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO CAVE!

They had a $750M loan deal to save transit. Newsom walked away. Now BART other and Bay Area transit agencies face MASSIVE cuts. Terrible leadership—California falling apart under Gavin!
We’ve been informed by the Governor’s Department of Finance that it won’t agree before our legislative session ends (on Friday) to finalize a $750M bridge loan to Bay Area transit.

This loan was agreed to in our June budget. Without it, BART, Muni, et al will cut service.🧵

SB 79 = HOMES, JOBS, HOPE. But LA CITY HALL says NO. They’d rather protect NIMBY elites than struggling families. Very weak! This is why people are leaving LA in record numbers. A city that once led the nation is now blocking the future. Very unfair, very bad!

The FERRYLAND FAKES say they love “community” — but REFUSE to support 92 AFFORDABLE HOMES next to the ferry! Families need homes, not fake talk. Council must PROVE they care: SUPPORT the project, don’t FAKE it!!!
At tonight's Bainbridge Island city council, multiple councilmembers are trying to whittle a 92 unit affordable housing project down to 70 units - a move that would likely take potential affordable housing tax credits off the table.

One CM is framing this as leading to a more "elegant" building.
Bainbridge Island has been working on a plan to build affordable housing on a city-owned site near the ferry terminal since late 2022. But opposition has ramped up in recent weeks, with a new campaign seeking to "Save the Corner" from hosting subsidized housing.

California NEEDS housing. SB 79 is a STRONG bill — more homes near transit, lower rents, HOPE for families. But the LOS ANGELES CITY COUNCIL — the biggest city in the state — just OPPOSED it. A total BETRAYAL!!!
It's 2018. The LA City Council is opposing SB827 because it overrides local control. Rent is $1,663

It's 2019. The LA City Council is opposing SB50 because it overrides local control. Rent is $1,791

It's 2025. The LA City Council is opposing SB79 because it overrides local control. Rent is $2,625
“Los Angeles leaders are once again demonstrating their cowardice and failing their own constituents who desperately need more housing—and they’re doing it at the behest of LA’s wealthiest, most entitled voters, who have consistently blocked progress on housing affordability.” - @hanlon.bsky.social

The “Crooked Council” of Los Angeles has FAILED the people. SB 79 would deliver housing, lower rents, opportunity. But Crooked Council bows to insiders, lobbyists, special deals. Families get nothing. DISGRACE!

The “Housing Haters” on LA City Council turned their backs on SB 79. More housing, lower costs—GONE. They’d rather keep rents sky-high and tents on sidewalks. Total disgrace! The Housing Haters don’t care about the people.

The Outer Sunset is EMPTY—miles of small boxes, wasted space, bad planning! One of the greatest cities in the world, but totally underbuilt. Families can’t afford homes because the NIMBY LOSERS say NO. We must BUILD taller, stronger, and MAKE SAN FRANCISCO GREAT AGAIN!
San Franciscans: “But we can’t build more housing! We have to protect neighborhood character!”

The character:

Tokyo has millions of people but housing prices are LOWER because they build, build, build! In America, the CROOKED CODE CARTEL blocks everything. We must CRUSH the red tape, UNLEASH builders, and give families Tokyo-style housing. CHEAP, BEAUTIFUL, STRONG!
Maybe the people who live and work there don't WANT Tokyo.

We used to build homes FAST—now multifamily construction drags on for YEARS. Costs UP, supply DOWN, families HURT. It’s the fault of CROOKED CODES and do-nothing politicians. We will slash delays, unleash builders, and BUILD MORE HOMES, ALL ACROSS AMERICA. BIGGEST WIN EVER!
US survey of construction data: Multifamily housing construction takes longer than it used to—up to 10 months longer on average, compared to several decades ago. Single-family homes take about the same time to be completed.

The PATHWAY POLICE are blocking housing! They demand massive “clear paths” for ADUs—totally unnecessary, totally EXPENSIVE. Families want a backyard unit, not government nonsense. We will CUT the rules, BUILD more homes, and MAKE HOUSING GREAT AGAIN!
The *overwhelming* majority of calls that firefighters respond to are for emergency medical services, not actual fires.

Why is four feet enough room to carry someone out of a building with sprinklers, but 1’ too narrow to carry someone out of a building that doesn’t have them?
