This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

Read through Cresswell-Clay's fascinating paper, probably too quickly ( agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/... ). Anyone have a good explanation for how the ocean know to warm up in the spring (NH) and cool down in the fall?

One of the many great things about The Power Broker is the history of objections to car-oriented development. Already in the late 1940s people were saying it would be cheaper and better to build more transit in NYC.

It was a pleasure and a privilege working with James Wilczak, Hannah Bloomfield, Justin Sharp, and Cameron Bracken on this paper. We reviewed the literature on #Dunkelflaute, and approaches to managing them in renewables-dominated electrical grids.

Nailed it.
The simple truth is that Trump believes that, if we send money to a county in exchange for stuff, we've just lost because now they have our money
Trump: "I spoke to a lot of leaders -- European, Asian, from all over the world. They are dying to make a deal, but I said 'we're not gonna have deficits with your country' ... to me a deficit is a loss. We're gonna have surpluses or at worst we're gonna be breaking even."
