The entire project here is so cynical. "We have to end foreign aid until we fix unemployment and bad schools!"

ok are you working to fix those problems?

"No."

One thing that doesn’t get talked about enough is how the far-right is an internationalist movement
one thing that has been obvious for a while is this aspect of the authoritarian internationale: they recognize that their allies abroad are not *countries* but *political movements* within foreign countries.

time we liberals woke up and recognized this--because it's the truth.
Or maybe, just maybe, what was obvious in 2024 was correct: Netanyahu fully backed Trump and would not deal with Biden because Trump would give him a free hand to escalate the starvation, bombing, and do full ethnic cleansing. Which he then did, until Netanyahu embarrassed him by bombing Qatar.

I guess San Diego local officials can't see the irony in how they pivoted from capping their ADU bonus program to creating a "safe parking lot for unhoused schoolchildren," but the grim irony shouldn't be lost on the rest of us.

Antitrust critics of Abundance claim homebuilding oligopolies are holding back supply and driving up prices, esp in Texas.

I did something really simple. I called up their sources.

Everyone I spoke to told me the same thing: Their claims are bullshit.

actual good-government reform is dead for a generation I’d bet. every surviving agency will be in angry defensive crouch because “reform” and “efficiency” will have become associated with innumerate-dipshit Maoism that let food aid rot in storage and threw away HIV medicine for imagined reasons.
This is a really terrific piece that reads like an American tragedy: a smart and curious young man interested in history and technology bought into the online far-right ideas about govt and used his talents to eviscerate it.

Families in Gaza are starving to death. Meanwhile, Trump & Netanyahu are using US taxpayer dollars to replace international aid orgs in Gaza with mercenaries — leading to even more deaths.

ENOUGH.

I led 20 Senators in calling on Trump to stop supporting this barbarity:
Senate Democrats urge U.S. to stop funding GHF, resume support for U.N. food distribution in Gaza as more starve
Senate Democrats told the secretary of state they have "grave concerns" about the U.S. role in financing GHF, the main group distributing aid in Gaza.

Trump, Miller, Noem et al are disappearing innocent people to a concentration camp to be tortured. They know this is what they're doing. Everyone who has touched this policy belongs in prison.
Those held at CECOT were forced to sleep on cold metal benches (mattresses were brought in for photo ops) and given a single water bucket for washing and drinking.

If anyone was seen washing themselves not at 4:00 AM, they were taken into a cell, tied to a chair, and beaten.

• 11.8 million lose coverage due to One Big Beautiful Bill provisions

• 16M fewer w/ coverage in 2034 when incorporating the 4.2M expected coverage loss from expiration of enhanced ACA subsidies

That's a 57% ↑ in # of uninsured compared to June 2024 current policy projection

How is it possible to increase the deficit by trillions while still making tens of millions of Americans poorer?

Because this bill would cut more than a trillion from health care and around $300 billion from food assistance.

This bill would make the poorest poorer while making the richest richer.
NEW FROM CBO: brutal distributional analysis of House GOP "Big Beautiful Bill"

On avg the bottom 30% of households get poorer under the GOP bill

Avg gets little - and are worse off if you include tariffs

This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history
