Spent a few nights in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia (Canada). One of my fav places in the world. It rained and even hailed most of the time, but when it didn't, we got the most spectacular rainbows. And yes, American friends are welcome to visit Canada :)

When Mike Myers wore his "Canada Is Not For Sale" t-shirt on SNL, he mouthed a secret code: "elbows up."
It's a reference to the great Gordie "Mr. Elbows" Howe who punished those that messed with his team.
You heard him Canada: elbows up.
If anyone asks why, tell them that Mike Myers sent you.

It's dark and pouring rain in the #PNW this afternoon. So here's a dahlia pic from my community garden last summer :)

Watching Wuthering Heights (2009) last night I was glad they highlighted the novel is NOT a romance but a warning about obsessive revenge, unchecked passion, selfishness, spoiled rich people & their attitude to servants, lower classes & foreigners. Are we so different 187yrs later? #books #history

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;

In fact, it was snowing beneath this dark storm cloud that moved rapidly over us, with sun on either side :) Near Vancouver, Canada

SPEAKING OF GARDENS

yall better have library cards. Some (most!!) public library systems have seed libraries and libraries of things where you can borrow things you may not need to own.

Also libraries are revolutionary and librarians have always been on the front lines

Lessons from the ocean: Be like a holdfast. The holdfast of bullwhip kelp anchors kelp stems up to 100ft long and provides shelter to 100+ species. It's dainty looking, but tough enough to withstand some of the wildest ocean storms. Life continues on.

Go outside and get some sunshine, it'll make you feel better & help fortify you for the times ahead. Edible & visual proof that sunshine is important: The 1/2 of my red sails leaf lettuce that gets more sunlight is bright red. The shadier side is much greener. #balconygardening #eatyourvegetables
