Why are most muni bonds that qualify for ESG labels issued without them? Our new working paper uses an unexpected data release to show investors price ESG info—even when bonds aren’t labeled. Political & institutional frictions drive the labeling gap. Link here: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

So for those of you on the #EconJobMarket, it's not your imagination; it's tough out there. Hopefully universities (despite their financial pressures) can support unmatched candidates for an additional year if necessary.

Really interesting development with New Hampshire’s Business Finance Authority planing to issue a muni bond “backed by Bitcoin.” What does this mean? I’m not sure but curious if anyone else has any insight.
New Hampshire is issuing a muni backed by bitcoin as collateral. I guess as an investor you could take a flyer on a bitcoin muni, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what it does for economic development in the state www.ft.com/content/e641...
Can bitcoin bonds fund economic development?

Having written and thought a bit about tax evasion strategies, I think study 4 in this paper (tax evasion with LLMs) is extremely important. Tax evasion strategies proliferate in places where LLMs have been trained like reddit and guardrails can be tricky where legality of behavior can be fuzzy.
I'd really want to know about the guardrails being implemented here, given our recent results in @nature.com showing that people are likely to ask LLMs to help them cheat with taxes, and that LLMs are likely to accept
