I wrote about how studying Marx, the Black Radical tradition, and the Cappadocian Fathers led me to rediscover my faith, forgive the woman who killed my mother, embrace prison abolition, and champion the idea that none are saved unless *all* are saved!

"gender is a social construct" is so true that even the right wingers have adopted this line, but only to move towards naturalizing sex & naturalizing misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia to sex. thus, it has little political slogan value today. "sex is socially constructed" is what is provocative

Currently writing a short piece on “dialectical biology” and I need to get some things out of my system as it probably won’t make it. You can really do a longue-durée account of naturphilosophie directly to the various materialisms; what unites all of them is natural history.

Of interest for people who want to see how Adorno deduces how neo-Kantians treat teleology as merely heuristic, how Horkheimer thinks error and development, and some cool connections in the intro on post-Kantian philsci!

In our pragmatic and technocratic age, oriented toward vocational training and widespread recourse to generative AI in the classroom and the workplace, Ilyenkov’s “Our Schools Must Teach How To Think!” is such an important work of critical pedagogy!

The fact that they deleted the article is proof to the UAE that “Israel” is an effective stick it can wag at the region, and they’ll fall in line.
Yesterday, Saudi newspaper Aljazira pulled down an article by Saudi academic and politician Ahmed Al Tuwaijri, in which he criticises the UAE, describing it as a Zionist Trojan horse in the region.

It was removed after Israeli reporter Barak Ravid complained about its anti-Israel/antisemitic tone.

It’s genuinely impossible not to feel like you are being chocked when thinking about the Arabian peninsula and the Maghreb. We are not only caged, but actively poisoned. It’s debilitating.

Löwenthal is credited as a co-author of the first 3 Theses of Elements of Anti-Semitism in the DoE Preface, but wasn’t until I found these unpublished notes—on Projection, Reification, Fascism—that I appreciated how weird & important an interlocutor he was for A&H. open.substack.com/pub/jamescra...

Speaking of inexcusable: the EU out of the gate with a nonsensical statement.
I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)
