❗Updating my YouTube viewers about the new update that absolutely sucks and how we can protest against it❗

Hey, so, YouTube is gonna add an update on August 13th that makes ai assume your age based on the content you watch, and if it thinks you're a kid, you'll get age restricted from anything "for adults" I think you have to give them your ID or photo verification to MAYBE get past this, BUT, I'm not sure, that's just what's been happening a lot with the UK... anyways, PLEASE don't give them your ID, or photo, or anything! For your own safety, just don't use YouTube for as long as you can, and use it as little as you can! This is a load of bullshit for many reasons, they're "slowly" trying to take control of social media so we can lose our freedom here. BUT, there are ways we can protest! People on Bluesky are planning to not upload any videos, watch any videos, or give YouTube ANY money after August 13th, and I'm planning to do the same, as much as I can. As much as I love making videos for people to enjoy, I don't want to give YouTube any money after hearing this change will be happening. If you end up watching any of my videos, and it ends up age restricting you because, it LOOKS like it could be "for kids", I just want to say... I'm sorry in advance, and there's nothing I can do to prevent that, as I already have my videos labeled as "not for kids" BUT I don't age restrict them... In other words, when this change occurs, my content will either be assumed to be "for kids", when it's not, OR, because I have it marked as "not for kids", it won't let anyone age restricted watch it. My guess for what they'll do with my content is as good as any, for I have no idea what this could cause to happen; if this'll restrict my content from "kids" or if this'll cause anyone who watches it to be marked as "a kid". Again, I apologize in advance for whatever could happen if you try to watch my videos after this ai change occurs, and I hope this change will be taken down or prevented because of all the people planning to NOT use YouTube AT ALL already due to wanting to protest against this horrible change. As far as I know, this change will only be happening in the US, but, I'm not entirely sure. This is a very sensitive topic that, I'm assuming, they aren't telling us EVERYTHING about, simply because it WOULD scare us if we knew what it really was all about. Probably. That's what it USUALLY is. I wish I knew if there was a guaranteed way to prevent this from happening, but so far, the best we've got is to stop using YouTube in general to stop giving them any money. Hoping they'll listen to their own corporate greed, and give in to our demands, just as long as we take their money from them, they'll break eventually and take it all back. That's what we're hoping for. So far, I can say this plan MIGHT just work! Corporations really just want money at this point, so we're planning to use that against them, and give them less money by not using their "money making machine" anymore after this update happens. Sounds solid to me! I, admittedly spend a lot of time on YouTube, sometimes up to 5 hours a day, SO, I'm hoping that because of this, I alone will be able to make an impact by NOT using YouTube after this update occurs. If not, if multiple people protest like this, it will STILL make some sort of impact, I'm sure, even if YouTube won't tell us, it WILL make an impact, you can trust me on that. So much of the world runs on money, and we can use this to protest by not giving them any money, that might just work, I hope it works. Even if you don't want to protest, that's still perfectly fine, just be sure that if you CAN and want to, you DO IT. We need everyone to stand together against this at the moment, and that means we'll need lots of people, I'm assuming. SO, if you CAN protest, please do! If you can contact YouTube, bother them about this update as well, please! Anything that can upset YouTube will do, I'm simply going to stop using it for as long as I can before they HOPEFULLY change their mind about this ai update and take it down or prevent it from happening. I have other sources of entertainment for myself, I don't NEED YouTube to survive, and I think now is a good time to let them know about that! Text Reads: Hi Creators! Starting August 13, 2025 we'll begin rolling out and age estimation model to determine if a US-based user is under the age of 18. This will happen regardless of the birthdate of a user entered when creating their account. We'll then use that to extend age-appropriate product experiences and protections to more teens (like enabling digital wellbeing tools and only showing non-personalized ads). These protections for teens are not new - we now have enhanced technology to more accurately determine whether or not a user is under 18 and are now able to extend these protections to more teenagers. We've used this approach in other markets for some time, where it is working well and we are now gradually rolling it out to the US. The age estimation model uses a variety of signals such as YouTube activity and longevity of the account. If we determine a user is under 18, they'll be notified. As always they'll have the option to verify their age (through government ID, selfie, or a credit card) if they believe out age estimation model is incorrect. For creators, based on our age estimation model we'll apply some additional protections including: - Setting uploads as private by default for anyone - Restricting the ability to earn from gifts on vertical.
