Happy to see that this includes the East Midlands. Looking forward to see what comes of it and how we can help.
NEW: 12 of England’s 13 regional mayors* have signed up to develop a “national active travel network”, based initially on safer routes to schools. This includes Labour mayors, and two Tories *and* Reform’s Luke Campbell. Are the transport culture wars over?

As promised, my written evidence is now on the @cityinfinity.bsky.social website blog. It has also been acknowledged by Parliamentary support.

I hope you understand why I have unusually disabled replies.

Good article from @adamtranter.bsky.social about today's spending review news on active travel spending: it's lower than we need to deliver against targets, and lower than it was pre-Sunak, BUT at least it's multi-year.

Opinion: There’s new money for active travel, but is it enough? — Fusion Media
The 2025 Spending Review brought a number of significant announcements for transport, and in a welcome change, walking and cycling weren’t left out, writes F usion CEO Adam Tranter.

Nice to see Chesterfield recommended. We should point out that we don't just have amazing access to the countryside, some good car-free options and a walking festival, but we also have a cycling festival about to enter its third year!

The Chesterfield–Staveley Regeneration Route threatens to carve through beautiful canal-side countryside. But there is a better way. One that protects the canal, supports new homes, and improves sustainable travel for all. 🚶🚲🚆

💙 #BlueMonday is a myth! Created in 2004 as a PR stunt, it has no scientific basis—even its creator has apologised for coining the term.

What matters is prioritising your mental well-being every day, and cycling is a brilliant way to do that. Learn more at cyclinguk.org/blue-monday
How cycling can improve your mental health
The third Monday in January has been dubbed ‘Blue Monday’ – the most depressing day of the year – but mental-health experts agree that the idea of one day being universally more depressing is nonsense...

I think we can change the world by having protected bike lanes and secure bike parking everywhere.

🚲 Thrilled to share: Inkersall’s new housing development now connects directly to the Trans-Pennine Trail! Handy for cycling into Staveley, Markham Vale or further afield into Chesterfield or Sheffield.

Cycling is 10 times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities and 100 times more fun.
Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities
Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

The official opening of the new Trans-Pennine Trail bridge over the Chesterfield Canal in Staveley today!

The first (officially) cycling across were a group of children from Hollingwood Primary School. It was also good to see @tobyperkinsmp.bsky.social there on a bike!

It's our Christmas Social on Saturday - 7pm at Brampton Brewery Bar on Chatsworth Road Business Park. We'll have the author Carina Humberstone as a guest speaker

Feel free to bring nibbles. Carina's books and Brampton's beers will be available, and bikes can be brought indoors.

Have your input on the new Integrated National Transport Strategy. I'd suggest building more safe cycling routes and more secure cycle parking should feature highly :)

Trail or rail? The Peak District National Park is proposing to safeguard two popular trails purely for recreation, rather than railway reinstatement, securing their future for cycling, walking and wheeling.

To make the change, you need to have your say!

Some really interesting pointers here on what to do when introducing an LTN
Oh gosh I have much to say on this topic, I should write it all up.
We lost our trial LTN due to a vigorous anti-campaign and a catalogue of errors on the part of Manchester City Council. It was magnificent, and was almost entirely removed after 6 months…

Welcome PDNP to Bsky!

I’m trying to succinctly put together some sustainable travel tips for responding to this Local Plan Review. (Currently failing on the succinctly.) It might seem boring but if you love the Monsal Trail and dislike car-parking over the Peak, it’s a big deal.
What matters most to you about the #PeakDistrict?

From landscapes to business, climate change and nature, to housing and public transport the Local Plan is your way to have a say in the future of our National Park.

Good news from Cop29 – @chrisboardman.bsky.social has launched new guidance to help deliver school streets. I LOVE our local scheme and they can make such a big difference – but there’s a lot of misinformation out there, so it’s great that councils now have this resource. www.gov.uk/government/n...
Government guidelines to make school runs happier, healthier and greener
New guidance will help to design activity into our neighbourhoods and reduce congestion on the roads during school run times.

🚴‍♂️Happy to share that a new bike path was officially opened at Markham Vale this week.

This route links Markham Vale with Seymour Link Road and connects to:
➡️ Bolsover hill & the Stockley Trail
➡️ Clowne Greenway
➡️ The Trans-Pennine Trail
It works well for commuters and leisure rides
