Republicans in Congress have done a lot wrong, but their unforgivable political sin, in my book, is their conscious decision that making every American's life worse is an acceptable price to pay for not being primaried.

They know what Trump is doing to America, and it doesn't matter to them.
the tariffs help no one and make the gop agenda much more difficult in just about every way.

but no republican will tell trump that. at least, not in a way he has to listen to.

It’s been 27 days since ICE sent Andry (the make-up artist with “mom” & “dad” tattoos that ICE claimed were TdA tattoos) to be imprisoned in El Salvador.

3/4. If we accept the idea that moving a person from one place to another undoes rights and disempowers the judiciary, we are endorsing the basic Nazism practice that enabled the killing of millions.

2/4. The entire practice of the Holocaust of the Jews involved zones of statelessness. It is easier to move people away from law than it is to remove law from people. Almost all of the killing took place in artificially created stateless zones.

No one should be above the law, most especially the President.

Ignoring a Supreme Court ruling to facilitate Kilmar Abrego Garcia's return isn't just cruel; it's unconstitutional.

They're saying the quiet part aloud — if they get away with it now, they'll do it to anyone.

It has more to do with not following illegal orders. So the “I was just following orders” is not a defense.

The U.S. Navy Secretary says he had a "duty" to disobey a Presidential order. Can he make that claim?

Zuck is disappearing posts of people he apparently doesn’t approve of. So far Heather Cox Richardson @hcrichardson.bsky.social, Rebecca Solnit @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social, etc. Perhaps he wants non-MAGAs to “self-deport”? 😂

Agreed, and the more we amplify what Booker is doing, the more we make it matter, in public perception and as an example to other elected officials. On the other hand, the more we disparage and tear it down, the more we make it not matter. It's not all up to him.
I've come along to this take after kneekerk cynicism. Doing stuff that grabs attention is good. Not every action has to accomplish everything. You can praise and be happy about a step forward. We're going to need many steps forward.
yall we can’t collectively screech that “no one’s doing anything!” and then say “no not like that” when someone actually does something.

is Booker’s filibuster gonna save the world? of course not. but since courage begets courage it could lead to more. I’m fucking cynical as hell but come on.

The unlawful seizure of data, payments, hiring and even real estate control by an unelected & unfettered digital narcissist at the behest of a power grabbing chief executive is the only story right now. As I noted Friday, this is a hostile takeover and our nation’s lawmakers are sleeping through it.

Musk is using the same tactics with our federal govt. that he used when he took over Twitter. It’s hostile, it’s chaotic, it’s slash first and fix later, and he has the power of Trump behind him. WTH is Congress doing?!

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.
