Ooh, look what just arrived! Absolutely beautiful work by @ianmcque.bsky.social with @rossignol.bsky.social - looking forward to drinking it in later.

Slightly disappointed it smells of fresh print and not diesel and sea water :)

Forgot to take an antihistamine before bedtime so only one of us got a good night's sleep.

Just saw a bowl fall out of my kitchen cupboard with the corner of my eye and caught it in mid air while barely looking. A bit like Zhang Ziyi in Croching Tiger, but if she ever managed the far harder task of looking like cold garbage.

Ok @hankgreen.bsky.social is my anger translator regarding stupid controversies about Jimmy Wales and @wikipedia.org. I was going to say something, but Hank says everything I would have said here.

When right-wingers talk about how easy some nebulous group of sponging “others” have it compared to the ordinary decent hardworking citizen, the easy question to ask is “would you want to swap places with one?” And they wouldn’t ever want to. So that’s that problem dealt with. Next issue, please.

I love how deranged people get about condiments on Bluesky. This isn't quite on the level of the mayonnaise genocide exchange but it's right up there in the pantheon.
Sometimes I actually agree when people say Bluesky is the most insufferable social network.

Absolute legend Malcolm Garrett discussing his early work last night at St Bride Library - both the good and the not so good which was refreshing. Got to gush at him in the pub afterwards about Buzzcocks Love You More/Noise Annoys being the best sleeve of all time...

A computer fundamentally only performs mathematical operations. If you write a program for a computer that cannot perform mathematical operations accurately that program is fundamentally flawed. Yes, I have been discussing AI with an IT professional. Sigh.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Pitching an idea for a series that's probably only one episode long because the premise, while brilliant, hinges on scientists doing something really stupid and they, well, don't do the thing.

Meanwhile, I watched the first two episodes of Plur1bus last night, it's very good in a lot of directions.

The average person doesn't give a fuck about the manifesto pledges, if they even bothered to read them. Raise taxes on those that can afford it, close loopholes, spend the money on things that make people's lives better and the country less shit after over a decade of Tory fuckery. Win (maybe).

This is a scorching article on the absolute state of The New York Times, and much of the rest of the media.
Not just the billionaire media, note, but also the billionaire-*compliant* media, which both-sides every issue with purchased junktank talking points.
