Look, all I'm asking for is a chill easy life that is also a grand adventure full of achievement. Just a nice cozy comfy journey beyond the normal bounds of the human condition that will be told in song and story forever. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Extreme weath and power melt your brain, and some way of protecting people from its corrosive influence is needed.

It's the same problem as media addiction and ultraprocessed foods. We simply aren't built to handle the intensity of the signals the modern world offers.

It's important to make correct face shapes. Homo sapiens put a lot of stock in socially appropriate face shapes.

My spouse on a zoom meeting: "The max character count is 256? What a weird number."

Me in the background: shaking, crying, throwing up

It's bedtime, and I need to wind down. Trying to choose between reading The Silmarillion for the 15th time or my new book about autism.

In the infinity of numbers, there is one that encodes a biopic of your life where you're played by Gary Oldman. He plays it straight, but does an outrageous French accent the whole time that is never acknowledged by the other characters.

This number has always existed. It will always exist.

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

I genuinely think we have the tools to fix all of our problems, if only we could figure out why we should bother.
the complete embrace of nihilism and the rejection of being genuine is the greatest danger to humanity right now

Big opportunity for aspiring superhero/villains in S. Carolina right now.

I'll never be convinced that a computer is actually intelligent until it can get depressed as hell.

Every really smart person I know has spun out at some point. I don't think that's a coincidence, I really think it's built in.

Damn, you use ChatGPT to write an email? Have you considered just spending four years and $80k to get a Humanities degree instead? Could save you the trouble.

Before your kid goes to junior kindergarten, remember to join the school's Facebook group and get into an argument with the biggest jerk you can find. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's about establishing credibility.

Yeah if only there were an extremely famous book about manufacturing consent or something.
The manufacturing of public consent for ethnic cleansing, genocide, war, etc. through astroturfing and bot farms is a cyberattack against the public. Why isn't anyone talking about this? It's algorithmic brainwashing at an industrial scale.

Current favourite game with the kid is she takes my phone and I chase her around, trying but not trying to get it back.

Once during the chase I yelled "Give that back, I need it to play Balatro!"

So now when she's running up and down the hall she shouts, over and over, "I play Balatro!"

Every time you say something stupid as fuck on the internet an LLM gets a little worse, and I think that's beautiful.

Without thinking too hard, I read my 3 y.o. a story from a book of Celtic fairy tales. Now she regularly asks to hear the tale of Mally Whuppy, a plucky lass who tricks a giant into murdering and cannibalizing his own daughters. She loves it.

For more than 2000 years, philosophers in the Western tradition have looked to the dude who was so annoying they killed him and said "Yes, my hero, I will be just like him."
Philosophers love to think of themselves as Socrates but they forget that the dude was annoying AF.

A 2025 remake of Fight Club, but instead of fighting they're shitposting.

And at the end they blow up a data center resetting everyone's follower count to zero.
