I'm not going to read thousands of your posts, but I appreciate the reminder to pay more attention to context in communication. I usually hear that from neurotypicals, but you're probably not wrong.

You may have intended the generic, but your words are validly read as the universal. I'm not reading things that aren't there, even if you had something other than my reading in mind.

Your post was ambiguous between a generic (sometimes you're not wrong) and a universal (you're never wrong). I think that distinction is crucially important for healthy interaction with the world. Especially if someone is new to thinking about themselves as autistic.

Maybe that's just me though. I have years of training in philosophy on top of autism, so I got an extra helping of being a difficult, pedantic person who can't let things go.

I mean, I appreciate what you're saying here, I do. But sometimes I am wrong? Not all cases of social friction I experience are due to people not understanding autism. Sometimes I'm just being a jerk.

Ah, but they can make The Bad Sounds. They will make the Sounds longer than a strong person can stay sane.

Did religion do this job in the past? Maybe regularly and sincerely contemplating beings vastly grander and more powerful than oneself would act as a brake on the corrosive effects of too much social status.

I guess I'm feeling grateful to be comfortable (four walls, three square meals etc) but not absurdly wealthy, famous, or powerful. I don't know how I'd stay sane and whole.

The sun is about 99.8% of the mass of the solar system, including all the planets, little asteroids and dust and stuff.

Sorry I went off like that. My cousin died in a type II supernova, so it's kind of personal for me.

You're right, "run low on fuel" was incorrect. "Run low on hydrogen it can fuse" would have been better.

Your mom says so.
November 13, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Wow, a bunch huh? Drop their calculations, I'd love to see them.

The mass of the planets is a tiny fraction of the total mass of our solar system. Our sun isn't even close to massive enough to supernova. The planets won't make any difference to the final outcome.

It will probably be unpleasant when the sun runs low on fuel, becomes a red giant and literally envelops the earth. But the good news is that it's too small to go supernova!

This is the representation we need to finally gain some ground in the culture war.

Autistics: famously cavalier about learning more on topics they have recently become interested in.

I regret nothing, would scorch again.

I am very good at masking, no one can tell that I'm on the spectrum I bet.

There are versions of any kind of movie you can imagine. One where everything goes perfectly, for example. One where you see all the little moments you've forgotten. They're all there, somewhere in the sea of numbers that have existed since before the first stars were born.
