It’s time to Learn A Thing!™️
Y’all on blue sky get to see my full legal name whereas those on the other apps still get the abbreviation. Feel special.

Whooo... After months of procrastination, I finally took my continuous certification exam to remain a certified Headache Specialist and... I PASSED!
The testing never ends....

Have gone almost 3 weeks without any major migraine attacks (in fact, just had prodrome once that I was able to stop and it didn’t evolve into an attack). The longest I’ve ever gone nearly symptom free. And today my brain decides it’s a good day to dysfunction. 😩

I hate when student evals say a student was quiet. Maybe some students are introverts and that's okay. Or are you creating an atmosphere that makes them uncomfortable to speak up? Regardless, I don't think it belongs in the evaluation. I’d love to hear thoughts of other MedEd folks.

I regret my life choices. I ate too much for lunch and now I just wanna nap.

I also learned recently that non medical people don’t call it postprandial fatigue but instead call it a food coma or the itis.

Sometimes I forget medicine is a whole other language

I’ll let my BlueSky followers know a secret that I won’t say on the other app.

I’m a doctor and I personally hate vegetables and exercise.

I know they’re important. I just hate them.

Finally got our pool up and running and I’m trying to use it regularly for exercise. Now I’m lying on the couch exhausted after a swim and regretting my choices.

Once again, I had to emphasize for my students because they are still learning outdated information:

Having migraine with aura is not a strict contraindication to using oral estrogen based contraceptives.

I’ll shout it on the rooftops if I have to!

"For Just a Moment"

I wanted to capture the feeling of being a physician & mother. I remember the pager going off or worrying about presentations while feeding or changing my daughter. The moments where it could be just me and her, those needed to be carved out.

Do you have migraine? Looking for others to bounce questions off?

The MigraineChat community started as a monthly chat but grew into a way to support each other when questions or a space to vent is needed.

Follow our feed ⬇️ and tag posts with "MigraineChat."
MigraineChat friends, I created a very basic feed you can add that should grab any tweet that includes “MigraineChat.” As we grow here, hopefully this makes it easier to find each others’ posts!

1.5 insisted on holding the phone to FaceTime her grandmother during dinner. And now I’m cleaning up all the peanut butter that is in the crevices of my phone.

The joys of parenting.

Update. It wasn’t a mistake. I was actually chosen for this group. Imposter syndrome is so strong!
So I’m scheduled for this meeting tomorrow called “Women in Leadership” and it’s got some amazing women who are also invited….and me. I’m pretty convinced my invite was a mistake. 🥲

I work “part time” in medicine. That is, I work 8-5 four days a week which totals to 36 hours a week. And my work-life balance is so much better. Just tells you all you need to know about medical culture.

Drug names can be weird and confusing but are sometimes informative!

💊 Lasix: lasts six hours
💊 Vicodin: six (VI) times stronger than codeine
💊 Warfarin: Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation + arin (like coumarin)

What are some that you can think of? 🩺 🧪

💊Sinemet: without vomiting (the carbidopa helps decrease the peripheral amount of levodopa in your body which causes nausea/vomiting).
