Bridget “Biddy” Mason was born enslaved in 1818 and forced to suffer grueling conditions.

After gaining freedom in 1856, Mason worked as a nurse and midwife and eventually became one of the richest women in California. She used her money to start a daycare center and fund community care efforts.

Yaaaassss. If you stayed at home and didn't vote because of this or that you had an issue about with her, then you didn't see the bigger picture, and I blame you.

Durham, want to support our immigrant neighbors in these scary times? One way is to show you care. I'm thinking of attending this rally. THIS SUNDAY 4-6PM in CCB Plaza downtown Durham. Anyone want to join me?

I will say this again, and if you find this offensive you should stop following me immediately because I cannot see my mind changing on this.

What do you think are the implications of not paying our taxes this year? I've truly never minded paying taxes until now.

I'm starting to really think that no one should count on receiving social security benefits in our old age. Seems like that pot of money could get illegally spent into nonexistence in the next 4 years.

"The costs Walmart imposes in the form of not only lower earnings but also higher unemployment in the wider community outweigh the savings it provides for shoppers. On net, they conclude, Walmart makes the places it operates in poorer than they would be if it had never shown up at all."
The Walmart Effect
New research suggests that the company makes the communities it operates in poorer—even taking into account its famous low prices.

Last month, in service of deep self-care and my health, I decided to give up alcoholic beverages altogether. Since then I feel really good, and my energy has gone up 50% or more. I've heard that not drinking will also strengthen my immune system. Anyone else become a teetotaler recently?
