Who needs some wonderful stories featuring birds? Here are a couple I listened to recently. Loved them both.

Them: “I’m sick of subsidizing their groceries when mine cost so much”

SNAP does not drive up grocery prices.

That would be inflation, tariffs & corporate greed.

For every $1 spent on SNAP there’s a $1.50 going back into the economy.

While you’re blaming the poor, the rich are robbing everyone.

A wonderful story that I encourage everyone to read. It can't be easy wrapping such a serious topic in that much fun.
It's awards season! I have two short stories I'm most proud of this year.

If you only read one thing of mine, make it "Laser Eyes Ain't Everything", a piece Locus called a "sharp satire" which should give you lols and catharsis. www.diabolicalplots.com/dp-fiction-1...

Yes, this.

Also, per Stanley Crouch, as quoted by Garrett Hongo:

You sing the blues because you have the blues so that you won't have the blues no more.
English novelist Graham Greene (1904-91)

"Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic and fear which is inherent in a human situation."

I used to describe it as the horror that someone, somewhere, might be getting a nickel they don't "deserve." But it's even worse. It's the horror that someone who doesn't look, think, or believe exactly as they do might be considered their equal.
A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

I am having trouble expressing how right I think this is.
It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence.

They are in charge.

Maybe cliffhangers were fine when chances of a popular show being dropped mid-story were low. But now it happens all the time. Given how little concern the streaming services show for their customers, I think leaving a show on a cliffhanger - no matter how popular the show - is just irresponsible.
