Having a kid as an older millennial means sometime in the 2040s Audrey will realise the funny song mummy and daddy made up about cleaning her bum was actually Eminem

The loveliest thing that has been happening this week is friends have been sharing their Ellie memories, and my favourite so far is the time our neighbour was watching her and took her out in the back lane for a wee and she navigated him to the local pub for some fuss off the smokers
We said goodbye to dogface yesterday. She was the best girl, and we are utterly devastated. We had far longer with her than we ever could have reasonably expected, but nowhere near as long as we wanted. What an absolute queen she was.

Please congratulate @arry-k-arry.bsky.social on a fabulous first book, and also congratulate me on having read it already, both astonishing feats in 2025, the year we handed all our autonomy to a cute but despotic tiny new boss
Listen up. My book on Victorian New Humour is out in the new year. The perfect gift for loved ones/University Libraries who are into humourists like Jerome K. Jerome.
Also guaranteed to ward against dyspepsia, St Vitus's Dance, & housemaids knee.

The child is finally at nursery again after a series of bugs so I was able to take a van full of stuff to the tip as my slow descent into being my dad continues. See also muttering "what can they all be doing, surely they don't need to be here" at any other vehicle on the road whenever I go anywhere

On the precarity front, I actually wrote a piece about this [for free!] for a subject association magazine and when I suggested that it be made available beyond subscribers to that association (because it was mainly institutional members so independent scholars unlikely to read it), LOL no way man

Delighted to see this in the wild and particularly enjoying the lovely visualisation of Hamilton's networks on the cover! #18thC #DH
At last our special issue, JECS 48.4, is out, all 200+ pages of it! We're very proud of it. Thanks are due to many colleagues, but especially Nuria Yáñez-Bouza for proof-correcting heroics, and the general editor, Emrys Jones, for brilliant support throughout. #18thC #langsky
