A mandate from God….who apparently wants his “chosen one” to destroy the planet, persecute minorities, bully other countries, allow misinformation to spread, and put himself before everyone else.

Liz Truss is completely beyond parody. If you told me she was created as satirical performance art I'd believe you.

Thank God Starmer is prime minister. Imagine if we had someone in that position desperately doing whatever Musk wanted, as Badenoch evidently would. This moment would amount the complete subordination of Britain to a foreign tech billionaire.

Manchester City may have lost at Anfield today but at least their manager and goalkeeper didn’t react to what was a harmless, throwaway chant late on in the game in either a weirdly sensitive or incredibly distasteful manner.

Oh.

Ibrahima Konaté has been the best centre-back in the Premier League this season and so represents a big injury loss for Liverpool ahead of a key period. They’ve (quietly) handled their other notable injuries and will have to do so again. Joe Gomez for sure has what it takes to be an able stand-in.

A word on the Allison Pearson free speech row, and what she describes as a ‘Kafkaesque’ threat to it. We asked her on @thenewsagents.bsky.social to discuss.
She said: ‘No. And if you get any aspect of the story wrong my lawyers will be watching.’
Gotta love a free speech warrior 🤷🏻‍♂️

I came across this (decade old!) picture yesterday and it really made me think about the great times of Twitter. How a simple viral picture would bring joy for a day. Anyway, I'm posting it here cos, well, this place feels like it's gathering a similar sort of momentum — and that's nice.
