Stay at home dad. Maker of sawdust. Public policy designed by and for the top 1% is the precursor to a failed state
I cannot think of a single purpose for anyone, even our current capitalist system, that anyone needs more than $3 million*. And I think if for some reason you think that you do, you should have to petition the entire country (with reasons) how much more and why.

* really $1.5 million at best

He might have decided a life of imprisonment in the US was better than getting tortured and killed in Afghanistan
It may be premature to treat this as traditional terrorism.

It sounds like this guy was one of the people everyone involved in Afghanistan said should be protected, bc going back would be a death sentence.

Also note his aptitudes would come from Special Forces/CIA.
With DC shooter now identified as an Afghan national not the antifa secret agent White House hoped for a good time to remember the Trump admin has gutted domestic anti-terrorism capacity and reassigned many to finding grandmothers to arrest at immigration hearings.

This is the shit that will be getting someone tarred and feathered or castle doctrined, and make it way more likely that DHS will be targeted because if you thought no one trusted them now, wait until a bunch of (worse-trained) dipshits start running around thinking they’re boba fett
NEW: ICE has torn up its $180M cap on a proposed immigrant-tracking program and is now guaranteeing private surveillance firms at least $7.5M each, with potential payouts reaching $281M per vendor. The change signals a shift from “pilot” to full-scale outsourcing of street-level investigative work.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement lifted a $180 million cap on a proposed immigrant-tracking program while guaranteeing multimillion-dollar payouts for private surveillance firms.

I love (am happy with) LED lights, but they seriously over-promised lifespan. I feel like having an LED lightbulb last more than a year is a miracle. I’m certain that it’s crap manufacturing, but the “up to” in “lasts up to 15 years” is doing a _lot_ of heavy lifting.

You know what's an actual physical barrier in an urban environment? All the cars permanently parked on the pavements making it impossible to walk on them.

My first rule of tech management after 30 years:

Process is pants. You can always decide to go without, but if so, you always run the risk of everyone getting to see your naked ass flapping in the wind.

Clothing catalog art directors have apparently decided to emulate “prestige TV” lighting design so you have no clue what the clothing (that I guess is the point of the model in the catalog) looks like.

Ryan might not be the _most_ craven Portland city politician ever, but he definitely qualifies for the Cowardly Politician Olympic Team and is a dark horse for a podium finish
Dan Ryan sent out a newsletter about how we should not do anything in Portland that might upset Trump. Portland needs courage, not this pathetic coward!

Personally, I don’t care who or what people _consensually_ do sex stuff with.
Why do the people who do seem to have issues with sex stuff also feel the need to tell everyone all about the sex _they’re_ doing?

Everyone keeps saying she’s a bad writer. I disagree. Every one of those words were definitely written. There’s probably 30k words in that book. Takes a lot to write down that many words. A person can’t write that many words and not be good at it
This is so fucking bad. It’s like a parody of bad writing. It’s a sketch on The State.

Her writing looks is shaped like “good writing,” it’s full of metaphors and imagery and short, punchy sentences that look like they might have meaning. The “I’ve _read_ Hemingway, and it _looks_ like this” style of prose that many aspiring high schoolers use.
But Hemingway actually said something

The trump admin has proven that there are serious advantages to “decentralized and compartmentalized” bureaucracies, both in a positive examples and major negative ones (DHS).

Whatever new constitution we come up with after [all this bullshit] it desperately needs several “no confidence/snap election” triggers in it. The US is so calcified by ineffective governments and un-assailable politicians because they’re not up for reelection for decades

I think the clearest way to understand how non-wealthy Americans understand wealth is that they believe that “soon,” as long as they [do something magical] they too will be able to buy a new (luxury) car as a holiday gift for their loved ones.

I did enjoy the Tylenol commercial before the Thorns game started. “Tylenol. No matter what the idiots in the government say, it doesn’t cause fucking autism.”
No notes, Tylenol. Well done

Yes, famously undocumented immigrants, here working mostly low paying jobs that they send as much as possible home to their families, out here buying all the condos near the lakefront and all the mcmansions in the exurbs.
In addition to being straight-up Nazi rhetoric, the "undocumented immigrants caused the housing crisis" lie seems designed to drive me, personally, insane.

My god (sorry I’m late on a bunch of this stuff. But wow!)

According to this NYT report, the head of the FBI and the Attorney General are holding meetings *in the Situation Room* with GOP lawmakers they are trying to pressure to rescind their votes to release the Epstein info. This is madness.
November 12, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Of course Epstein is involved with shady non-rapey shit with everyone in the current government. If this doesn’t destroy the government, I can’t imagine anything will
