This one sits at the intersection of smart homes, safety, and privacy - plus being tired of the local emergency management agencies' app always needing to run in the background on my phone and need location permissions. And having found no existing plugins, repositories or other means for doing this easily after a little research - I went down a rabbit hole this evening, and figured out how to do this myself. Here's how I did it with Home Assistant, and how you can do it too.
