Honestly the 2-3 institutions left out there that are mostly creep free should be recruiting so hard on this
Like imagine you are 18, and going "well all of these universities have deep deep ties with Epstein, 4 have had deans resign due to sexual assault allegations, 6 of them had students and faculty teargassed for protesting genocide, 5 of them are pushing weird chatbot shit. I'm supposed to pick one?"

I’m not sure what to do with the knowledge that the entire time I was trying to follow rules, trying to be a better person, ignoring petty cruelties, all of *this* was going on

It feels worth saying that the thing that unifies men as disparate as Noam Chomsky, Deepak Chopra and Trump is patriarchy. Patriarchy, hatred of women, and the need to dominate them, persists across race and class status. Left movements refuse a robust analysis of persisting gender violence.

There are plenty of *real* divisions between the U.S. and EU in speech laws for hate, disinformation, etc. But *not* about this.

It takes a very talented huckster to convince the world that purveying literal child sexual abuse material makes Elon an American speech hero fighting French oppression.

People promoting ai have clearly never had the damnably frustrating experience of being friends w an alcoholic. Maybe what you’re hearing from them is true? But how will you ever possibly know

After a brutal stretch of winter weather in many parts of the U.S., especially the East Coast, there was an eagerness on Monday to grab on to any sign of hope for warmth. Punxsutawney Phil did not oblige.
Punxsutawney Phil Sees His Shadow, Leaving U.S. in the Cold
The supposedly meteorologically gifted rodent saw his shadow, suggesting several more weeks of winter. (Forecasters agreed, at least for this week.)

Feels like if we see the Epstein thing to the end the very idea of physical contact with men will become so repugnant that we actually *will* have a population decrease

The post-Me Too era has really taught me that the underlying issue with the persistence of sexual violence isn’t exactly women’s credibility, as the “believe women” slogan suggested, but rather with rape’s moral status. It’s not that people think it doesn’t happen. They think it doesn’t matter.
It's disturbing to see many of the the major figures in moral cognition all over the Epstein files

He was friendly with a huge number of the leading figures in the field, including giving millions to their labs, long after he pled guilty to sexually abusing young girls

If you embroider or cross-stitch & are interested in mutual aid, I think that I'm going to organize an event where folks can sell their work and donate a percentage of proceeds to a couple of local mutual aid groups. May 16 or 23. I need to find a location here in NYC. I'll circle back with details.

Backing up The Argument in NYT/Siena, Gen X still has an astonishing 49% approval for Trump (!), while Boomers have dipped to 42%.

Gen X is currently tracking at 12 pts to the right of the electorate on the generic ballot. Now 9 pts to the right of Boomers, which has to be the largest gap ever.

Conservatives really don’t have to work that hard to destroy the academy when the academy is quite happy doing it themselves

It would be entirely symbolic but they should still do it. Duke should revoke Miller’s degree. They should do it bc it’s a dishonor for them to be linked to him, & they should do it because if they had given him an ug liberal arts education, & he had learned anything, none of this should be possible

A big part of the story here is that women like Renee Good are braver and stronger than they could have ever imagined and that just doesn't fit with what MAGA men tell themselves about how gender works. It just does not compute.
