In other words, I no longer assume that the "review" as a form is one that is reflective of their experience as viewers/readers, but rather that it represents a mode of viewing/reading that the course has to teach them how to do.

Isssh, Vanity Fair, y ahora AP. Los medios ticos fueron profetas al volarse la crítica especializada de sus páginas y programación desde hace años, y lo que nos hemos ganado: sectores completos hipersensibles a la crítica, y un maremoto de publicidad haciéndose pasar por opinión.
It's profoundly saddening to read that AP will no longer be assigning or running book reviews because readers don't engage with them enough and they take too much effort to plan and assign. People complain about critics as gatekeepers; wait until all that's left is marketing.
