If you’re going to shoot a period film to look like a *film* from that period, you can’t do it any more impressively than Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague (dp: David Chambille)

I love applying for a temp job, answering a bunch of AI questions about my experience, and then getting a followup email from their human recruiter asking you the same exact questions in an email. Like, what was the point of that exercise?

There are now so many misogynist narcissists dudes now who would greatly benefit from the life lessons of “Groundhog Day” and should be made to watch it repeatedly until they get it

I said at halftime that Steelers/Tomlin inexplicably not kicking a FG at end of half, doing risky TD att instead, would come back to haunt them. It almost did but a shanked FG at the end and they survive—a FG that wouldn’t have been attempted if Pitt had kicked FG at end of 1st. Anyway, crazy game.

If you'd like to reduce your blood pressure and eliminate a lot of needless in-fighting, I'd recommend muting or blocking Axios, Politico and Semafor as they seem to specialize in promoting quotes from anonymous Democratic contrarians in hopes of generating rage and engagement.

For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines

A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

I’m cynically assuming just 3) but hoping for more calls for the other two.
It feels like Democrats have three options: impeachment, shutting down the government on Jan. 30 to extract concessions, or strongly worded letters and long speeches. Am I missing any?

The President does not have power to wage war. He was already guilty of child sexual abuse & ripping the Constitution to shreds, & now, he’s a mass murderer.

Impeachment, conviction & removal are not enough. Trump & his enablers must be punished. No War in Venezuela. New York Nuremberg instead.
Per reporting- US officials confirm that the United States launched military strikes on Venezuela, these bombings serving as a hideous extension of the regime’s illegal murders at sea.

I just shared this guardian piece with a cousin who is freaking out about Mamdani and this move, I am trying not to start a family flame war but as a Jewish person I’d rather not be labeled antisemitic because i criticized the Israeli government. 🫠
they want you to freak out about mamdani repealing the ihra definition of antisemitism which its own author says is being abused to silence criticism of israel
this is arguably beside the point but even the drafter of the ihra definition has outright said it shouldn’t be a basis for legislation and/or state action (or otherwise used as a speech code)

If I was going to try to sell my 2017 MacBook Pro —is local craigslist the safest place for both parties? Was thinking of asking for $100 since it needs a new battery (basically needs to be plugged in) and doesn’t have a lot of storage, but works otherwise! (Apple trade in offer was like 40 )

I'll start: Zero.

Still coming up with my Marty Supreme thoughts (I mean thumbs up, and lots to think about and unpack, a few quibbles…) but want to say, it’s good to see G Paltrow back acting (and she’s great). I’d love more of that and less of the weird alternative health and candles stuff.
