I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

I wonder why “If you do drugs, you go to hell before you die” didn’t stick as Super Mario’s catch phrase.

Radios or electronics behaving strangely before an alien arrival. Done to death and I love it every time.
What is one thing you fall for in a movie every single time?

I’m not much of a toy collector, but this figure was too good to pass up. Super Grover and I go way back.

I loathe the term “Content Creator.” It’s like calling a chef a “Calories Producer.”

Sinners invites a new bold business idea. What if people want to see movies because they like them and not due to a pavlovian response to being 12 years old once!?

Somehow an interesting filmmaker got something genuinely original out of Hollywood and into THEATERS. Sinners is worth the ticket.

1/3rd of the way there and slowly making progress. Whew.

Been working on custom animations, sound fx, and music to create motion game boards that combine digital environments with physical game pieces and terrain. The effect makes for kinetic and memorable game moments where players feel they are in control of a thrilling movie scene.

Since @cyan.com changed puzzles in the new edition of Riven, that means new notes and a new journal! I made a D’ni numerical emblem for the cover.

Five years later, there’s still these strange remnants from the worst year ever.

1000% still call nearly every guy from high school by their last name. It’s strange when I have to refer to them by their first name when talking to their wife or kids.

A good article on the frustrating reality that every artist, first and foremost, MUST be a social media marketer. www.vox.com/culture/2024...
Everybody has to self-promote now. Nobody wants to.
So you want to be an artist. Do you have to start a TikTok?

“Take these seeds and put them in your pockets, so at least sunflowers will grow when you die.”

This illustration originally came to mind at the start of the invasion of Ukraine, but the blustering of fools in the Oval Office prompted me to finally draw it. May the days of wicked men be few.

A feature film with zero dialogue just won an Oscar. Loved this movie.

Every time they show Spielberg in the audience of #SNL50, I cheer like my daughters seeing Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game.

Kristen Wiig as the green M&M singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Mis was one of those I-have-to-get-up-and-walk-around-the-room kind of laughs.

Marvel kind of feels like it’s in its Robert California / Andy is promoted to manager era.

Weak men cannot compromise. Weak men cannot build consensus. Weak men think that leadership means force. Weak men build nothing that lasts.

While creating something, the mental battle being waged in your mind of “this is exciting and awesome” versus “this is garbage and you’re wasting your time” sure is something.

Keep your head down, trudge forward, and have fun.

Writing for me is watching a scene in my mind an immeasurable number of times until ideas finally collide like atoms creating the most extraordinary feeling. My goal with the finished work is to replicate that delight in others. There’s no greater frustration than the work remaining private.

Alright, writers. Take a cue from Lynch: go be your weird damn selves and leave some fucking art in this world before you're gone.
