Beginning today, Portlanders who receive SNAP assistance have access to their full monthly benefits for November. I am extremely thankful to @tinakotek.bsky.social and those at the State who worked through the night to make this happen.

With today's regular City Council meeting cancelled due to a strike, I will be standing in solidarity with union workers and not crossing the picket line.

Instead, I will be in-District at Soulful Sips on MLK Blvd from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. today. Come chat with me about your thoughts for the city!

Oregon is home to 30,000 federal employees, thousands of whom live in Portland. Right now, because of the federal shutdown, one third of federal employees in Oregon are not being paid. That’s 10,000 Oregonians.

On October 24, many of these folks missed their first paycheck.

Together we are calling on the Trump administration to immediately release contingency funds that will keep millions of Americans from hunger, including roughly 136,000 people in Multnomah County alone who rely on federal food assistance.

That’s almost 1 in 5 Multnomah County residents.
Multnomah County and Portland leaders, community partners call on Trump administration to fund food assistance to prevent hardship, hunger and suffering for 136,000 County residents
The federal administration can immediately act to release these contingency funds at any time — today, even — and spare 136,000 of our neighbors from needless suffering and hunger.
